That's not a US M93, it has the German convoy marker and is most likely a Bundeswehr vehicle. The lights are also not the US style.

OOOOPS I stand corrected ! At least I was closer to the truth than the original caption that said it was a Stryker...According to this caption, the picture was taken in FOB Warhorse, Iraq, in February 2007.

Strange--take a close look at the smoke poppers--they are the US style, not the German ones. What gives??

Couldn't it be an updated ex-ODS vehicle ? AFAIK, earlier M93s had retained the german features Rob mentions in his post, like the one in the Dodmedia picture (taken in 1998) below :

That is indeed a US M93A1. If you look closely in the larger pic that Frenchy thoughtfully provided, you can see the US Smoke Grenade boxes as well as the M250 series smoke grenade launchers. The M93A1s the retained German style taillights vice having the typical US taillights installed. Furthermore, the running lights on the slat armor are identical to the ones found on a Stryker with Slat armor. Also, the vehicle is mounting US Matching units and antennas. The two Fox NBC vehicles that 1st Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division received last summer had all of the same vehicle features as found in Frenchy’s picture. If anyone is wondering what the orange container in the rack on the side is, it is a water gel burn blanket for burn victims.

I am not sure why the unit decided to mount the slat armor... Maybe someone saw the utility in suing an air conditioned vehicle for patrols... An IED would make a mess out of that multi million dollar, specialized vehicle.
