Beyond that, it would be unusual for Dragon to get it that wrong again, and to that degree.

You put a bit too much faith in Dragon

From what know DML designers used only photo references to design new muzzle brae parts, not measurements. I personally provided some photos of muzzle brake for this project and also informed DML team clearly that new part must be enlarged from previous design. They obviously improved the shape of parts compared to old ones, but ignored my comment about part size and made new one too small again...

Hello Mike
Nice review and thanks for taking the time. Whether a new model or a review I always find your contributions more then worthy of viewing and reading. Thanks again for providing us with this article. It really appears to be a nice kit. Say hello to the wife for me.

Talk to you in a bit.

HI Jim
you recommend this kit- but would you recommend it to somoene who has the old kit sitting near the top of the stash?
What I'm asking is - is the new kit so much better, that I should burn the old one, and fork out [£25-ish] for new release?

Hi Adam,
Loonng time no talk, I guess we've both been staying pretty busy. Thanks for the compliments, I must say I enjoyed your article in issue 33 of AFV Modeller. It's a killer issue all around and the Waffenträger write up was excellent. Gail says "hello" to you as well.

Take it easy,
Mike

Hi Steve, I'm not Jim, but since I'm the one who reccomended the kit I'll answer your post.
Comparing the old kit to the new one the new kit's lower hull and running gear is much nicer IMHO, especially if you're a stickler for detail. The upper hull and turret are virtually the same except for the new fittings for the periscopes, and the commanders cupola. Yes, as I said in the review the molds have been tweaked and the detail is a little crisper, but the old kit still isn't bad. You also get the turned barrel and the PE pieces, but again all of these are found in styrene in the old kit. Some people would use them some won't. I have seen the old kit built into a very nice model. I wouldn't get rid of the old one. Build it, and if you enjoy it, maybe get the new release to build later down the road.

Cheers,
Mike

Cheers, [and apologies] MIKE
I suppose if the new kit isn't perfect, I would be as well to build the old kit and spend my money on a correction set.
Thanks for your help- and the review.

Too many long nights in Aggieville?[/quote]

Yes! You are correct!
I'm sorry, I was thinking of the M51 but the info I saw was on the M50! With the way this semester has been going I'm just glad to remember my name for exams!
