Gents
A test build for my modifed '46 PzIV wargaming platoons. Built using the old Fujimi PzIVJ because I had it in my stash, plus various parts from Hasegawa Panthers and Tigers. Next vehicles will be done using the Revell J chassis for the better details n tracks. Enjoy ............
cheers
Brent

Interesting conversion - good idea to add "defense of the reich" coloured bands to the turret.

Very interesting model.
Was there ever a paper project or experimental prototype of a sloped glaces/hull Panzer IV?
I remember once seeing a similar model kit on a Japanese website.

Hi Brent
Nice looking model.
I can see what these are on the model, but what was the "defence of the reich". Please forgive me for my ignorance. Nick

Hi Nick,
Defence of the Reich bands were applied to mainly Fw190's along with Me109's that were involved in defending targets in Germany from Allied air attack.

If you can get hold of Panzer Tracts 20-1 Paper Panzers -- it featured a Pz IV with the sloped glacis as you mentioned. It was called Original 9./B.W. Panzerkampfwagen IV Ausf H. They thought about this in late 1942. The design for a 50mm sloped glacis increased the weight and also required wider tracks; am not quite sure how to visualize "...three instead of two tandem roadwheels" but that's how it was described in the article. By 1943 the decision was not pursue in view of the increased production goals for the Pz IV -- as the manufacturers insisted that the no design changes should be introduced if targets are to be met. Hope this helps.

I like it. Kind of looks like a low rider conversio for a Panther. Just needs a couple big ol' sub-woofers in the back.

Looks great, a clever idea, lots of artistic license - right up my street!

I think the recoil from the 88 would flip the tank over on its side. Hope the bottom has extra armor plates welded on. Are you going to put the 12.8 on your next build? That would be really cool. I like it.
