Depends upon the kit and the tracks....On most Tamiya Russian armor I replace them I have used them on tanks with side skirts or tanks that have "tight" tracks with little sag. Not all armor has the sag look. hope that this helps

No I use Friulmodellismo best you can get. Don't let nobody fool you. Well I take a little of that back AFV club makes good ones cheap about $10.00 cheaper so if you can find Friul use them if not go use AFV club if not well you are in some deep POOP now as those Modelkasten will have you pulling your hair out and beating your brains out on the Table that you work on as they fall apart like a inset bad women word here. Hope this helped you.
Final line is the Poles rule on tracks and PE ,Friul and Aber plus heck Armo can't be beat. So that is that |
PS Yes Tamiya does them but if you want to sand all those little pin marks out go right ahead if you are like me I will have to sand every one of them even tho you can't see the ones at top but I know they are their heck I don't want those pin marks in my model that I spent $100.00 plus dollars to build

I use the Tamiya track all of the time. I have enough trouble coming off of the $40.00 for the kit to start with, let alone spending another $200.00 on after market stuff. If you are building a model to take to IMPS Nats, get the aftermarket tracks. Otherwise, I would spend the money on another model. Just my .02 dollars…

For me it depends on which kit it comes from. The newer Tamiya Sherman tracks I will use but not the ones that come with their old M3 Lee or Grant kits.

Just about have one of the older Tamiya Jumbo Sherman tank kits built, and for the first time in a very long time, I used their 'rubber band' kit supplied tracks. And they came out pretty well, too. So this is pretty much a first for me.
Of course for my German and Russian armor I use the Fruilmodellismo white metal track links, mainly because of their built-in sag factor. Yeah, at $26 plus shipping they aren't cheap, but I figure that most of the time I use hardly any PE and a Jordio Rubio barrel, so I saved money on not buying the PE and used it on the tracks. And I personally think they are worth the extra money to use on the German and Russian, and possibly some of the British vehicles.
Take care, sgrity

Depends on the kit. For the Leo2A5, the tracks are good looking enough. For the T-34/85, I plan on replacing them. Their M1A1 tracks are for the old M1s, so if you're planning to build a Tamiya M1 as a late M1A1, use different tracks (AFV Club has them, although most other M1 kits by DML and Trump use the newer tracks). The old M1 tracks are those that have diagonal treading/pads while the newer ones are the flat square pads due to the increased weight.
