From the review section of Historicus Forma, Rudi Richardson gives a very comprehensive first look at one of Taesungs latest figure sets.

Thanks for publishing, Jim.

This was my first opportunity to review Alpine figures, and now I finally realise what everyone was raving about. As I said in the review, the sculpting is impecible, as is the casting. Taesung's attention to detail is fantastic!

I've never given a figure such a high rating before, and I think that in itself says something!

Rudi,
Based on the lack of response to this topic maybe we don't need a figures section or forum on Armorama anymore. Perhaps HF is dominant for that area of modeling on the KitMaker network now. What do you think?

Hey Jim, it's only been a day!

With that in mind, I do enjoy looking at the new releases for figures...really do. I'm just not a figgie person.....perhaps a lot of the AFV'ers have the same thoughts.....like to look? Show me a really suhweeet new Artillery piece and I'm all over it....

HF is certainly dominant in this arena, but I'd hate to "loose" these great tidbits here (yes, I know we really wouldn't loose them, I'm just lazy....rather not jump sites if you know what I mean).

Merely a couple of pfennig's worth of thoughts.

Mike,
I realize that but as anyone knows when they have posted a topic in any forum, if a day goes by in an active forum and nobody responds or even says "good job" then how does that make a person feel?

I think the vast silent majority (lately) of users reading this (80+ people have read this thread at this point) need to realize that nobody gets paid for their work here (unless you count me) and when a user spends 2-4 hours to craft a review or feature article for your reading enjoyment the least a handful of those readers can do is post a comment or use the "I found this review helpful" link on the review page. That stat for example is 865 reads of this review so far and 3 people responded they found it helpful.

Basically what I am saying here (to that silent majority) is...stop being so passive! If you want to see more stuff on our sites now and in the future we need your interaction. Both from a content contribution standpoint and a community level. Don't take things for granted as no site, magazine, club, whatever is going to exist without those who stand up and support it.

Thanks,
Jim

PS: My apologies if I have made anyone feel they are not doing enough for the site. That is not my intention. But I do think people need to snap out of their complancency at times and this is one of those times. Thx again.

LOL, Jim you scoundrel! You always know how to make me laugh!

Folks I realise this is a bit off topic from the original thread subject, but...

But seriously folks, without your feedback about features and reviews in particular, we have no way of knowing if we're doing a good job or giving what you want.

One person told me the following via email about this review (and I hope he doesn't mind me sharing it):

I love it when the reviewrs have extensive knowledges in uniforms and insignias. Your reivew shows both technical and historical side of the figures.

But how do you folks feel? Is the review too long? Too technical? Too historical? Too many pictures? Too few pictures? Biased? Not objective?

As I always tell my wife... I'm not psychic... if I was I'd be a woman! just kidding, ladies!!!!!

Hi,
Firstly, these are yet another fine example of Taesungs superb sculpting skills. As always his attention to detail are what set his figures apart from the rest.
The fact that there has been little or know response to this review is nothing new to the forums. Many members have this happen to them after not spending a few hours writing a review but after spending countless hours producing a model or diorama only for it to be ignored on the forums..i'm speaking from personal experience and not trying to detract what the staff do in anyway with their work on reviews.
Jim has mentioned (hard to tell if it was serious or sarcasm) the idea of getting rid of this figure forum because of a lack of response..
To me that seems to be rather harsh and if it is to go through here is some food for thought...
If this rash thinking can be applied to the "Figure" forum, a similair example could be looked at on the "Situation" forum on HF.Just about every review posted there has not been responded to, why not get rid of that too?
Obviously removing a forum altogether is not the answer.
What i would like to see is an amalgamation to keep things more central and user friendly.
The "Diorama" and "Situation" forums should be combined. The "Situation" on HF forum is non exsistent , i never understood why a second groundwork forum was need as the same techniques used in producing a vignette do not differ too much to that of dioramas. This might get up the goat of the Armor guys but to me this seems a logical step.
As for the "Figure" forum, alot of the reviews, queries, figures people have painted or W.I.P's end up on HF anyway. This "Figure" forum should be intergrated somehow into HF, maybe under a 1/35 heading.
Anyways, this is my take on things..

Gents
In my humble opinion, most 1/35 scale figures are designed
to cater to AFV modelers and diorama builders. Very few historical
figure modelers are interested in anything smaller than 54mm.
And this is why, I believe, Armorama needs to keep the figure forum
under its wing.
Just my 2 cents

Good well written review Rudi. I confess that I was prompted to read it by Jim's post above

The reason I didn't read it first was because being familiar with Alpine Miniatures I knew it would be excellent and I also find my self less and less interested in WW2 German Figs particularly SS
That said - I really like the figure in the leather jacket and may buy that figure for it's conversion potential
