I am using the nimix monitor kit to build a conversie of a mike monitor gunboat
that`s the one using the ltpv6 105mm howitzer turret

now with the upcomming lvth 6 kit from AFV club I can complete this kit.

but i am a little short of detail photo`s
there where as far as I know 12 vessels in vietnam en 3 in the US.
So foto`s or better, drawings are very rare.
but I want to build it as best as possible.

if someone could help me ....many thanks

greetings
chris

Hi Chris,
That’s an awesome idea!! I love it!
I’m not sure if I can help you with pictures (I’ll have to check that at home) if I find something I’ll send it to you.

Hello,

Just some details. According to the info you gave, the MONITOR you want to build is a Program 5 MONITOR (MON). It apeared in 1968. 14 where made 10 MON and 4 Zippos.
This model saw a change in armament and configuration compared to Program 4 MON.

To make it short you have to cover the 81mortar welldeck and replace the 40mm turret with a 105 gun one.The deck house was also longer so plan to modify it too. The deck house had also two 20mm gun turret similar to the one in front of an ASPB.

So quite a lot of modifications to do.

For more reference look at the Osprey Vietnam Riverine Craft 1962-75.
That is where I took my reference by the way. One added bonus you have profiles plates you can widen at 1/35 and use as blueprints.

Hope this helps

Chris,
Click on the 'Model Shipwrights' tab at the top centre of the screen.
there's a Riverine forces campaign about to start and some of the seafaring types over there might be able to give you further help and pics etc.
