For the record, these figures are specifically banned in IPMS/USA competition if the full set of rules are applied. You might be able to get by at a local show, even one with an IPMS charter, but they would not be allowed for general display at a regional or national event. With or without the end product. At best, they'd be restricted to a curtained off "adults only" area.

Al
Are you really serious that those figures are Banned???
Here in Holland we can laugh about this figures and even the kids laugh about this. I have seen them before and then they were very colourfully used in a dio. :-) :-)
Have you guys in America still got this really amazing censor rules???

Yes, Faust, they were specifically mentioned in one of the recent Journals as not being allowed. This is part of the nudity/decency question that has gone around IPMS for a couple years.
From the IPMS/USA Competition Handbook:
"5. The Chief Judge will exclude or remove from competition any entry considered by Contest officials to be inappropriate or offensive to generally acknowledged standards of taste and acceptability.
A. The following are prohibited in competition and may not be placed on display at any IPMS event:
There shall be no depiction of excretory functions depicting any human being or animal. "

I saw a dio of Tiger one parked by a stream and one of the crew was taking a leak into the stream while his mate throttled a goose that was in military in scale magazine back in the eighties Both figures were converted from tamyia stock figures, it still makes me laugh when i look at it.

This dio reminds me of an old poem.....
In days of old,
when knights were bold,
and toilets weren't invented.....
They dropped their load along the road-
And walked away contented!!!!
Still ROFLMAO!!

This figure set proves my point that people will buy ANYTHING if it's in a German uniform. I know that money talks and German stuff is what sells but COME ON! The other day I saw a figure set of Hitler stroking some Hitler Youth kids head. Where does this end?

Go find some mouse droppings, they would be about the right size.
Holy crap, no pun intended. I believe that would smell worse than the dill weed I used for grass once.

I can see the headline now "Modeller contracts Hunta virus gluing mouse droppings on Diorama." ROFLMAO How long will it be before Verlinden comes out with a PE detail set to dress out your pile of crap... This is too funny... Oh, did you see the sign over the head of the gun taking a leak? "Du Colon?" Colon, hilarious...

Are you sure they didn't drop or modify the ruling? Last yer a bunch of guys from Texas got together for a huge group diorama of a wheeled vehicle column going through Holland. They had a guy peeing into a bush. The diorama took 1st place

That quote was from the current rulebook at their website.
http://www.ipmsusa.org/CH_index.html " TARGET="_blank"> http://www.ipmsusa.org/CH_index.html
Now, local clubs may turn a blind eye to such things and in the overall diorama you describe, the figure was likely secondary and not the focus of attention. These guys would be well advised to contact the chief judge at OK City if they plan on bringing it to the Nationals this summer.

Your guys are sheeting right now in bags. I just wanted to make MY dio as realistic as possible which means that it can happed that odd things happend in the front.
That there is a little commotion about this Them , well it's too bad ... grow up.

AJ... they won nationals last year with it. The dio was built onto one of those 3 x 5 foot long tables. While the figure was not the focus, neither was it hidden it was close to the front. Of course it was a guy peeing in the bush and they didn't show a stream coming out.. I've got pictures, but there are photo's not digital.

This is friggen funny. I LOVE IT! A guy I know once did a scene with a Russian tanker (WWII) taking a leak, he used fishing line and colored it with a Hi-Liter Yellow flourescent marker. For the wee wee....(God that sounds so funny) on the ground, I think he used resin, but I think you could use layers of future too.

Was that 2002 at VA Beach or 2001in Chicago? I don't remember a group dio like that at VA Beach, but that might only mean I don't remember it. If it was Chicago, that was before the rule was finalized, I think. I know the rule went into effect before the Region 1 regionals last May, because the then Reg. Coordinartor, turned a couple females back to the crowd. As chair of that event, with the approval of my head judge, we overruled him and turned her back around the right way.
In any case, my advice would be to run anything lilke this by the contest chair.head judge BEFORE putting it on display and risking hard feelings all around.

Those are strange kits...German infantry taking time off?!
You know, you could add a sniper aiming at those two...That would quite redeem the scene... :-)

Exactly the reason I don't belong nor enter any IMPS functions. Too much is up to the judges' discretion. The same rule applies to showing dead bodies in a dio. Lets get real people. These things happen in wartime, it is not all cool vehicles and weapons. Those cool vehicles and weapons are designed to maime, destroy, and kill other people. Why is it so wrong to show this in a dio?
