Rima,
Nice work on your first dio. I am wondering how many figures are there in your dio? And how long did you take to finish it? Keep it up and post more pics.

This certainly is a busy diorama :-) How many stories are there in it?

Terrific job

There is no rule to say you cant have more than one story line at a time. But it is more difficult to convey properly and I think you have made a good job of it, RIMA. Although not the normal for a dio, I just love huge dios with lots of vehicles and figures.
Its a pity you havent heard of a wash because it is a good /easy way for helping to detail a scene, vehicles and figures, and along with dry brushing bring out the details. This is one thing that is obviuos from your dio. There are only 2 colours of flock used for leaves, both on the trees and the camo. I suppose they could just have been camouflaged to hide from another attack, But a little variety in colour helps.
Your a brave man for taking on such a huge dio for the first time. Good luck!

Hi RIMA, great dio... What scale are is it? If it is 1/35 that sucker must be HUGE... Only thing I can see, and it's IMHO only, is that the foliage on the vehicles looks kinda too thick leaf wise... Seems for that scale it would be difficult for the crews to get to stowage and hatches, etc. with that much coverage, but that's just me...
All in all a very nice job... Congrats!

The Diorama is about 55 cm long by 35 cm large. For the leaf that are much too present on the vehicules and tanks I use film and picture documentation from Discovery Channel I was also impressed about how much they were using to camouflage but the battle of Normandy and the bocage was as the Italian campagne painfull to get thrue due to the Nature Italie is Mountie and Normandy too many Bocage they can be use as little fortress.
About the color of the foliage for the leaf ( from HEKI art line ) it is true that the choice is not variat between 2. If you have ideas I am open.
My next dio 1/35 is about italian campagne busy now to make the ruines. Will be the same sices as my first one. I am now about 4 months busy with it will need may be 2 more then you will see it.
This time i use more technick that i learn through this site so it will give you the chance to
![](../../modules/SquawkBox/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
but now it is nieuw.
I have another dio 1/72 Waterloo campagne this one as about 300 soldiers it is a big one Nr of scenario can't tell you people hoe have seen it find a nieuwe one very often I tryed too make it as real as possible. I make the pictures this week will send them this week end in the forums.

RIMA, this is one impressive diorama. Would have thought you've been doing it for years if you hadn't said it was your first. I personally don't think the foilage on the tanks are too thick. I've read that in many cases, crews would just hack off large sections of trees and fasten them down both while in transit and when not. THe leaves would not stay green for very long so it was mostly a temporary solution to Allied air power...
Anyhow, what did you use for the vegetation?

Looks really good. There's a lot going on but everything is consistent, i.e., there isn't a battle in one corner and someone having a cup of coffee in the other while another guy is just strolling down the road. It looks like your uniforms are kind of glossy but that may be the lighting. If not the lighting, next time, you might want to give them a shot of clear flat as the last step. Keep up the good work.

Had a walk with my dog find pieces of branches from trees which had forms of trees.
I used 2 different color ( light green and darker green ) of from Heki artline scenery landscapeing material ( serie Nr 1633 dark green and Nr 1631 for light green ) it is a German product, ( Heki Kittler Gmbh - D 76437 Rastatt - Germany )
I don't know how you call that material but when i was breaking it down ( make it in thousand piece ) it was quite painfull ( the branches are a little bit like cactus )
I glue the top of the branche dieped them in glue and the hole thing in the mixing of that material.
I hope you understand

Incredible work. What are the sizes ? What did you use to make the folliage (trees, camo,...)? The truck is an Opel Blitz ? Great work.
