Hi, this is probably my first post here, so please be gentle.
I have not worked on scale models since 2001, when I hung up my college books and put my BDUs on to go figth the GWOT; until just a few days ago, I was assigned to the US Army as an MP and I served a tour in Iraq with the 220th MP Bde.
I just recently ETS'd out of the military and have a job as a corrections officer; I decided to go back into scale modelling after a long hiatus; my passion was on 1/35 scale armor and I did a pretty good job at it; my last two models back in 2001 were a Tamiya M4A1 Sherman and a DML T-72M1, which I painted in Iraqi Army Colors to replicate one that was part of the Battle of 73 Easting.
Anyways, I am getting back into the grove by making two vehicles simultaneously; one is a WW2 era Jeep and a modern M1025 HMMWV; both vehicles will be modeled after military police vehicles; the HMMWV will sport desert tan and the markings of the 16th MP Bde (Airborne) and the Jeep will wear the markings of the 101st MP Bn., 5th Army.
Already have a Badger 150-3 on a 1/8 hp compressor, ready to paint both of them using Model Master Acrylics, which I find that are the best for painting armor models. Hopefully, once I finish painting, weathering and decaling the vehicles, I'll post them here, along with some pics of my tour of Iraq (plenty of interesting armor pics, including Spanish and Polish AFVs).
Stay tuned...

Gday and welcome Reynier
Would be good to see a couple of vehicles in MP markings.
Oh, and we fully expect to see in progress and finished pics!
Cheers

Sounds like you have some interesting projects going on. If you need any referances on your Humvee, there was a Humvee campaign here a couple of months ago. If you look in the campaign section of the forums you should find it easily enough. There were some really interesting builds there, and tons of good referances as the Tamiya 1025 needs some work to be made accurate. Good luck, welcome to Armorama, and post some pictures when youre done!

Welcome back to the hobby, Reynier! I'm looking forward to your builds, as other folks here are. I also came back to the hobby after a decade just last year. It's a great pastime to pick back up. As Gary already mentioned, you may want to help yourself to some of the research done for the Humvee campaign. Epi, Jeff, and Gary all provided great info on different Humvee variants and details in many different posts. Run a search and you'll find this site to be a gold mine (although the search engine is a bit hit-or-miss).
