What color did the US use for air ID flags during Desert Storm? I've seen several shades of red, orange, and pink and wanted to know which was most common.

Also, how are these placed on the tank? Do they go over the stowage rack, the blast panels, wherever there's room, etc.?

Finally, what's a good way to make one of these?

The panels are a highly reflective orange color on one side and a highly reflective pink on the other. When folded properly, only an olive green portion shows. IIRC it folds into about 12"x12" or a square foot. It's basically like a small tarp and has tie downs on the edges. It's just tied down on the upper portion of the vehicle out of the way like on the back of a bustle rack.

The one time that I have made Air ID panels, I took a piece of aluminum foil and applied a appropriate orange colored (auto) decal sheet, then trimmed the whole thing to size touching up the foil edges with orange (acrylic) paint. I 'punched' holes in the corners and used small diameter ships' rigging to tie it down. Worked for me.

Nice looking truck Kevin!!! Another quick question that I thought of, what are the dimensions of one of these flags? I suddenly realized that I asked about placement and how to make one, but not how big they are *slaps self in head*

I probably have the info at work. I can look up the specs of the actual panels tomorrow.

Though retired I happen to have one. Found it and it's actual measures 69 x 19 inches or 1753 x 483mm. In 1/35 scale it will convert to approx 2 x 0. 54 inches or approximately 50mm x 14mm.

Figured this out from a shareware program I found and used. It's called scale calculator. Converts from a scale to another. from inches to miles and mm to Kilometers.
