What reference material is there available for the different variants of the LAV-25?

Which kit of the LAV-25 in 1/35 is the best?

Thanks all.

IMHO, the Trupeter kit is the best on the market at the moment. The tires are accurate wheras the old Italeri tires were all wrong. The kit is fairly easy to assemble and good on accuracy. Add a PE set for the grills and build yourself a swing arm MG mount for the M240, and youve pretty much nailed everything on the head. I built one and liked the kit very much. There is however a spare tire missing from the kit. Most LAV's carry a spare on the drivers side. However, if you are good with casting, you can make a copy of one of the kit tires and use it as a spare. Thats what I wound up doing. Have fun!

Gary

PS - there is loads of referance material all over the internet. Look on Webshots.com, Google, and Primeportal

I don't know if Steeltiger Productions are still selling LAV reference CDs but they are great. I have all of them and they are excellent coverage of the LAV variants.

See this thread...no website but you can try the e-mail.

I agree, the Trumpeter LAV 25 is the better of all LAV kits so far.

Be sure to check your reference material for the timeline of LAV you want to build as the "swing arm" Platt mount for the M240 has only recently being started to be used.

The best aftermarket original tires are made by Maple Leaf Models and the set includes a spare.

Modern upgrades under the SLEP(Service Life Extension Program) include the wider XML tires...also the best set is made by Maple Leaf Models, and the extended exhaust.

Echelon Fine Details makes a great LAV 25 decal set with everything you need.

The best thing to do is to check your reference material and decide how you want to build and finish your LAV 25.
