Can I convert an M107 in an M110 just cutting some lenght in the cannon?

I want to make an M110 in Nam - the shorter barrel one.

Bye,

Marcelo

Hi Marcelo

The M110 is fitted with a 8-inch (203 mm) howitzer, whereas the M107 is fitted with a 175mm howitzer...The breeches may differs as well. So I'm not sure that just cutting some tube length would do the job...

Hey Marcelo, I have both kits and each has identical parts for the gun mount and breech. Basically both kits are identical except for the barrel. As for shorting up the barrel, I’d say no only because that the barrels are much different in size as Frenchy stated, and each has a different bore muzzle.

Now I can help you out as I have an extra 203 barrel I can send you. If you want it PM me with an address and I’ll get it out to you…

As my learned colleagues have said, nope. They have totally different size and caliber barrels. M107 is a 175mm inner diameter barrel, while the M110 is a 203mm inner diameter barrel. A cut off M107 would not look right and does not make an M110. They are on the same chassis and cradle, but the tubes are different. They were interchangeable though. Many M107s were re-tubed as M110s and vice-versa. The breeches may be the same on the model, but the actual breech was a similar design, but different in size on the real howitzers.

Hi guys!

As usual, Armoroama is "the way" for me

Thanks a lot for your explanations and I don´t know why but I totaly forgot the diameter issue... I was only lookig at pics and the diameter was totaly ignored by me.

Joe, thanks a bunch for your kind offer! I´ll let you know If I get the model, cause I don´t have it yet. I´m looking a cheap one offered arround here and, if I buy it, I´ll let you know and I´ll accept your offer, ok?

Thanks again, troop!

Bye,

Marcelo

That is the spirit, Joe. This kind of inter-modellers help is what makes Armorama a good place.
