Hi, just wondering if you guys wouldn't mind posting some articles you may have written or you saw on this site. I have my own way of doing it but I'd be interested to know if theres easier and less time consuming way of doing things. Thanks in advance!
Regards
John

PS: They dont have to be all articles, just write how you paint faces( what kind of paints, process etc,,,,,)

Nothing really radical or original about the method I use, but here it is anyway:

1) Base-coat face in light sand enamel (Humbrol or Revell).
2) Completely daub the whole lot with either raw umber or burnt sienna oil paint
3) Remove surplus oil paint with brush and soft cloth. This leaves dark recesses.
4) Apply small specks of raw umber to beard / moustache area and blend in carefully.
5) Apply small specks of cadmium yellow oil paint to cheeks, brodge of nose and other "raised" parts of the face. Allow to stand for 30 minutes or so then blend in carefully to get highlights.
6) Repeat step 5) with smaller specks of while oil paint applied to get "highlights of highlights".
7) Use small amount of English dark red oil paint to blend in lips (raw umber for inside of mouth, if open)
8) Pick out eyes with matt black enamel, using mix of pale blue or sand plus a touch of white for irises.
9) Hair: Base-coat in enamel in colour of choice, allow to dry then use same "daub & remove" method as for face (using raw umber oil paint). Allow to dry, then dry-brush for highlights.

Works okay for me. And I never use acrylics.

I've had good results using Jaume Ortiz's method. Take a look here. He uses Vallejo paints.
