In the battle of the bulge the camouflage was hard edge - at least on most King Tigers. There might have been some Tigers with soft edge as well that I do not know about.
For the small dots you can use a fine tipped brush with slightly thinned paint. If you want to spray the dots then use a piece of card board with small holes in it and hold it close to the model when you are spraying. However, I would recomment a brush.

Hey Matt,
Hard edge, but like everyone else says Panther and Tiger I's were soft edge, but not all.
Do some research on the three tone camo, I've found that colors varied from unit to unit and tank to tank. You've got to remember that some colors were more avaible than others during '43-'44 due to Allied bombing raids.
Hope this helps.

What people seem to go beyond is this, hard edge or soft edge determined by date is only applicable to vehicles being finished in the factories.
Soft edge vehicles were still around at war's end. Even Panzer Grau vehicles were still around, albeit mostly in training units, but nevertheless, they were there in May '45.
So in the Ardennes, soft edge Tiger-B's were also used, especially those used for the test with the single link tracks.
Not every Tiger-B used during that offensive was a factory fresh one. Yes a lot were but not all.
The easy bit about Tiger-B's and their paint jobs is they were finished in only 1 plant, the Henschel factory.
Panthers were finished at 5 different plants, each using their own camouflage techniques.
As to the dashes, I guess that is the Hinterhalt a.k.a. Ambush scheme. This is really very simple, just finish it in hard edge and use a small tipped brush to add very small dots, just like on the original.
