Hi,
Would like to know the difference between Tamiya kit 35134 (Chally 1) and kit 35154 (Chally 1 Mk3). It seems that the original Tamiya Chally is discontinued. I'm most interested in the base hull. Is this the same with both kit?
I want to add the construction of an Al Hussein (Falcon 2 AB9C5) to my never to be built stash ideas
Thanks

Hi Richard,
I believe the base hull is the same in both kits, the differences lay in the turret and hull armour configurations, there will be others with much more info than what I have.

The Tamiya Challenger 1 Mk.3 kit contains all of the sprues included in the original Chally 1 kit. The only addition is the rear fuel drums, Chobham side skirt armour and front ROMOR array needed to model a vehicle serving in Operation Granby (Gulf War 1). I think there is also a Chieftain stowage bin and some additional jerry can mounts included as well.
So, yes the Challenger 1 Mk.3 kit could be used to create an Al Hussein. You will just be leaving more stuff in the spares bin than if you had purchased the Chally 1 kit.
Cheers - Dan

The al-Hussein and the Falcon are two very different tanks.

You're right. From what I was able to find on the Net the Al Hussein is the ex-British Army Challenger 1 while the Falcon 2 is a new turret developed in Jordany to be used on the Al Hussein.
Feel free to give more info and pictures if you have them
BTW does someone know if there is an AM barrel for the "RUAG Land Systems' L50 120mm smooth-bore compact tank gun"?
Thanks

Here is the WIP photo of the one I built. There are a few different Falcon turrets in the works. Most of them have minor differences.

Ah, ok, just made the connection between your name and the Osprey book
I'm still waiting for the book so maybe all the answers are in it?
- Where did you find the info needed to nuilt it? Like I saided I did a few search on the web but the few pictures I found were quite small and we don't see much details.
- Did you made some plan/drawing of the turret and are those available or did you work on eyeball Mk 1?
- If you made plans, are those availbale in the book or on request?
I would really appreciate any info you could give me about your project (except those that are already in the book that this )
Thanks

PM me your email address and I'll send you what I have. It's not much, but the photos I found gave me enough info to extrapolate the turret dimensions using the Eyeball, C1A1. My drawings are long gone however.
