Hello All,
Two years ago I served as an advisor to an Iraqi Infantry Bn. During my off duty time I visited the various vehichle graveyards/collection points. I have started posting some of my collection to my photobucket account. I documented the 17 Chifftains that I found along with a few of the ARV variants. Here are the pictures of the first vehicle that was located outside of the Taji Tank rework facility. Here is a link to my album Iraqi Chieftains

Andy,
Thanks for posting the pics. It's good to see some of the Iranian stuff captured by the Iraqis. By chance did you come across any M47/48 or 60's?

Andy,

Thanks for posting the images. Very interesting to see the Iranian markings still on the tank...ya think the Iraqi crews would have gotten rid of those a long time ago...maybe they thought it was somekind of badge of honour to ride into battle and die in a captured tank?

Hello Chris,
I would have to check my image collection, I know that Mike Mummey posted a couple of the images I provided him at the other forum. I will have to check again. I took about 2500 photos of captured stuff and I plan on posting the images once I get through cleaning them up with notes that I took.

Jason,
With a signature like yours you must be happy with Canada's announcement to cancel the MGS and go with upgrading/replacing the Canadian tank fleet.

Cool! I just saw the M47 image he posted. That'll be very useful. I hope there are more to come!

Dear Andy

Thanks for sharing your photographs.

I love boneyards (tanks and aircraft) and in this respect your photographs are particularly inspirational. This has got me fired up to go and hunt down the old Airfix Chieftain and get down to some small scale modelling - thank you.

I've also got to add that I love the images of the graffitti covered tanks - a tradition dating back to WWI that appears to be alive and well. Again, tasty subject matter and so much more interesting than 'normal' AFVs.

Cheers

Karol
