I have now been looking at the few SU 85 M pics I have availeble for some time, and it seems that there basically is two different hights of the commanders cuppola - one like the cuppola seen on the T34-85 and one approx 1/3 lower - anyone who can confirm that ?

Btw. its for a 1:16 conversion on the trumpeteer T34/76 model 42.

Cheers

Jan,
I did a Google search for SU85m and could not see one way or another if there was a height difference. I did find a site with some very nice detail shots of a tank on display. Some tanks identified as SU100 are most likely SU85. I found several pictures called both on different sites. What you are seeing could be a real variation or a trick of the camera. Sorry, not much help.

The curse of the internet is upon me. While researching the SU100 I found several pictures that show different cupolas. One several the vison slits are larger, and lower down on the cupola body. On one these are so far down that the welds to the hull top are on the vision slits. These are all the early, smaller cupola, with the split hatch. This looks like a different manufacturer thing. The overall hight looks the same. The large, late and post war cupola is larger. Google SU100 and check out the Russian link. Several SU100's, and some nice detail shots of the Su85M Su100 hull.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Randall, been searching hi and low myself...

I think ill settle with copying trumpeters spilthatch type, it seems that the russians more or less used whatever they had.

Sounds like a good plan. I have plans for a Su85M in 35th. Waiting for the new SU100 to come in as a base. Good luck with the project.

I have the "old" Dragon Su 85 M, end even if its a older kit, its still pretty good. Just needs some opdates for the enginemesh and other details.
