Hey boys,
I will be attending a model show in dallas next month, and would like to take my finished project. Its rather large, 24"x 24". So what is the best way to transport dios to and from a show? ( I will be driving) Thanks for your help as always!

I get a slightly oversized box, line it with a foam pad and set the dio in. Usually make a 2" foam outline of the dio base and set the dio into that so it won't slide around on the foam padding. I make sure that the box containing the dio is secure in the trunk and can't slide around (wedge it in place with blankets and extra foam etc)I have driven 350 miles to shows and rarely have any broken models when I arrive.
Please note that most of my dios are 16" round.
Cheers,
Charles

Seriously, I store all my finished dios in the transport boxes also. So far no disasters!
I have come to a conclusion that working in a standard size is better in the long run as all the transport/storage boxes are the same.
I normally work on round dio bases and I may limit them to 16" dia and smaller as the larger ones just take up too much room.
Cheers,
C.

I've seen guys bring dios to shows in large rubbermaid containers. The way they secure them is with a screw or two. They screw them in from the bottom of the container and into the bottom of the diorama base.

Here's a tip I got several years ago. In addition to what Charles said about the inside of the box, find some self-adhesive rubber paddding, cut out some squares, and attach them to the bottom of the cardboard box. Acts like velcro with the carpet in the trunk of the car - the box won't slide around. Used this method many years, hasn't failed me yet.
