Looks nice. Nice figs, weathering, stowage, etc. The grouser stowage box covers needed to be removed, but it's a bit late now. That's the only thing that jumped out at me. I have this kit but don't plan to build it as Ircyk's tank. Nice job.

Martin: the grouser box covers are the oval lids on the rear corners of the engine deck. They were not supposed to be on the later M4A3 hulls such as you kit. It was a mistake by DML leaving them on there.

Overall you've got a nice model. The final item I'd change is to not leave the Thompson .45cal SMG on the turret top. Unless the TC was using it imminently, it's likely he store it away. If he needed to button up, that weapon would hinder his vision.

Nice build! IN addition to the other comments I would add that you have installed the fender gussets (Those little metal strips supporting the inside fenders) in the wrong position. They should be vertical along the fender line. Also, Every M4A3 had the engine bay door supports on the rear hull top.

Thanks for all the replies.

I'm making a diorama aswell for this tank, so I've to do some more work with the pigments to blend it in the diorama. (I'll be carefull with my fingers )

@ Roy, I leave the thompson when I remove it the map will fly away

@ Chris, I've checkt the manual and it says that I had to put it like this , Like robert already mentioned, there are a couple of things wrong with this kit. But is was fun to build

Here a preview for my diorama

Martin, this is the reason I log in here as much as I do. To see what people like you are capable of. That is one really fantastic scene there. My father who was in the Army in France saw this and was amazed. He said it brought him back to seeing scene's just lke that as they fought their way through small French towns with armor support backing them up.

Brilliant!!!

darren greenwood:

Major Irzyk was an officer in the 4th Armored Division. He worked his way up to command the 8th Tank Battalion. He is considered to be one of America's greatest tank commanders of WWII, next to Creighton Abrams (commander of the 35th Tank Battalion of the 4th Armored).

These two men were instumental in the success of Patton's Spearhead (unofficial nickname of the 4th Armored Division).

One minor historical issue with your fantastic diarama, Irzyk's 8th Battalion used foliage for camoflage far more than anybody else, even more than the Germans. I have a picture of a M4A3 that looks like a bunch of bushes, with a 75mm barrel poking out of it.

Again, kudos.

Nice dio.

Regarding the foliage, I think that was more a case in the dash across france. By the time ircyk had this tank was after the battle of the bulge. Finding leafy branches would have been tough in mid-winter.

Thanks for your kind replies. The glass hasbeen done with thin clear plastic, cut this in small pieces and add it to your diorama.

Hi all,

I've added some more figures to make it more interesing. Also I made some modification to the interieur of the building. The figures are a bit shiny. But I've allready fixed it.

I hope you like it

Nice Job. I just picked up this kit. I am curios, are the tracks correct for this sherman? Most photos I have of HVSS shermans have the T66 track.
