I´m bulding a Sherman M4 (Tamiya) and I´m having some problems with the headlights. After hollowed and paint them whith steel I tried to make the lenses with Humbrol Clearfix but it does´t work fine.
Does anybody knows a way to do it?

Usually after applying aluminium/silver I give a coat of Tamiya Smoke (X-19) and I'm quite happy with the result.

Instead of using the Humbrol stuff, try the clear 5-minute epoxy to make your lens.

I used a drop of Tamiya clear in each headlight and it works great. Next time I will try the 5 min. epoxy.
Thanks both.

give it a coat of Testors clear parts cement, a drop or so of the right color, and a top coat of the clear cement... should come out looking good...

Another way I do them is painting the back with silver an just drop in a drop of white glue. Drying it gets almost transparent and has the big advantage that if you don't like the effect you can remove it without damaging ani part of the model. Eventaully you can also dye the white glue with the addition of acrylics...
