Just wanted to know what manufacturers are out there for the various South African armoured vehicles that have been produced.

Scott,
I've got a 35th scale resin Buffel on order from Bax Models --- will let you know what I think of it when I receive it.
Regards and Aloha,
Johnny B.
PS How's it going, Olivier? I hope that all is well, my friend!

I have both the Casspir and Buffel kits for Baxmod. Overall I am not impressed with either kit. The resin castings are not up to the standard that I have seen with other small aftermarket and resing kit producers.
The Casspir kit is not bad overall but coould use additional detailing. The tires in my kit were poorly cast with many air bubbles and weakly moulded details. Baxmod did a re-cast for me and sent me a new set free of charge.
The Buffel kit will take a lot of work to get it built. The first thing is that there are no instructions included in my kit and nor have I seen any. Again the tires in my kit were poorly moulded and many of the cast parts have air bubbles and lacking fine details. The resin chassis, suspension, and tires are essentially from the Revell-Germany UNIMOG kit with modifications for the Buffel kit. I plan on using a Revell-Germany UNIMOG kit for the chassis and MR Models UNIMOG resin tires instead of the kit parts.
These are unique subjects and although the kits are not of a high resin quality it will be challenging and hopefully worth the effort to get them built.
If anyone gets instructions for the Buffel kit please let me know and e-mail me a scan of them.
Fine Cast Models produces two version of the Ratel.
