Aloha everyone,

Does anyone have any knowledge of the ICM offering of the Ural 4320? Good kit? Bad kit? Possible detail sets? And so forth. I see its listed as discontinued on the Great Models sight. If this be the case has it been picked up by some else?

Thank you in advance!!!

Hy Kurt!

For its low price you get a very nice kit. The engine is more or less "well done", but can be improved. The same for the cabin interior. Details are okay. The tires look nice and are made of rubber.
Also try to manage the Eduard PE set and some references. Both will be very helpful while building. But for that, you will get a very nice and good representation of the original vehicle.

I dont know what exactly has happened to ICM, but now "Alanger" carries their URAL and other stuff.

Just check their HP for more information.

Hope this helps a bit,

Best regards,

Pro - Only kit of a URAL on the plastic market.

Con - difficult kit to build with associated detail problems of a Early Eastern European kit. The molds started out as Omega-K and have steadily migrated across Eastern Europe's kit manufacturer's doorsteps. Yes, Alanger has them right now, and buying from the Alanger site has been a pleasurable experience for me.

Overall it is a decent kit, but think 1970's Revell kits with cleanup and detail work. NOT a Trumpeter/Tamiya/DML kit. I have started and stopped building this kit several times. And yes, the Eduard PE is a MUST if you do not want it to look toy-like.

Not only like a 70s Revell kit, but also boxed them recently

I built the one boxed by ICM. As a practice build. The instructions could use some work. They are not as detailed as others. Its a good kit. Now that I know how to build it. The fit problems what parts to omit. Like the drive shaft and engine. Unless you want to show the hood up or a overturned truck. You could add them to the spare parts box. Other than that. As stated above its a good kit. I have just ordered 2 more. Who sells the p e set for the ural? Thanks in advance sk2

I dunno if it was just me, but the tires were unproportionately small to the real thing.

Kurt,
If it's any help Military In Scale magazine had a review of the Omega-K Ural in their January 2000 issue.
