Some crazy dancer has decided to make a Dora railway gun in 1/35!!! And I thought that the leopold guns were mad! This one is so freaking huge that you'd need a dio base about 2m in length. The kit is almost as crazy as the real thing!

For a set of mind-blowing photos, check out Modellers Paradise I particularly like the FAQ at the end!

Not only would I need a bigger house, but a much bigger paycheck, and a wife with a MUCH bigger sense of humor. As I said on Modelshipwrights about a 6 foot long ship model if I brought this puppy home both Dora and I would be sleeping on the couch.

I see you've only recently found out about the 1/35 Dora, but this kit has been talked about for over a year.

It is huge, gigantic, and it will need a room of it's own once complete.

Including S&H it is said to be circling the $1,000 range.

Its a right beast!
And on top of the cost of the model itself, someone is doing a turned aluminium barrel that will sell for over £100

If I turned up with one of these I wouldnt be sleeping on the sofa, I'd be missing some parts of my anatomy!

Have to say that I dimly recall this one being mentioned at some point - but i always figured that it would never really happen! After all, the sheer size is just incredible. I'm amazed that it's actually possible to produce this one economically at all. $1000 seems pretty reasonable for a kit so huge and so rare. Plus it has to be almost definitively the largest possible injection moulded kit.

You know its big when the aftermarket aluminium barrel comes in at $220 alone!

The comparison of the barrels against the broom is truly impressive. 2500 parts. Given the time it takes me to complete a model this would would probably take me ten years. Did you read the FAQs? For $800+ the damn thing does not even come with figures! Be the first on your block to buy it.

Do you think that the weight of the barrel would mean that I would not be able to pivot it up or down and that it would have to be glued statically into place?

At this size, I'd reckon that the limits of styrene are probably being pushed. I'm particularly surprised that a plastic barrel is even viable at this length - I'd have thought it was bound to sag under its own weight even if it was cast perfectly straight.

Be the first on your block to buy it? Be the ONLY person in your city/country to buy it more like!!!

I have two fo them that I use as roller skates. After building the 1/32 Andreas sub, I have no need to tackle something like this, although it would be cool to see. "Q"

Ive got one of these on order myself. I talked with the guy at Modelers Paradise. There was suppose to be a conterweight for the metal barrel. But they run together at $500 for the set!!

If I had the money, room and sufficient time left on this earth, I would love to do a diorama with this beast . Can you picture that? Over 500 support troops and civilian contractors to crew the gun. Two complete anti-aircraft battalions as well as two companies of troops for security patrol. Then there would be all of the other support vehicles like 251's, Kubelwagens, trucks, motorcycles, etc., etc. Hell, the base itself would probably take a year or more to construct. But damn, the finished product would be incredible.

Dude, slightly off topic, it says at the bottom:

''Showing these pictures without the written permission of the owner will result in legal action.

Again, it is NOT allowed to copy these pictures and show them somewhere''

Don't want to worry you or anything.

"And he will of course always think of you crazy chicken !"

Taken from the last question at the bottom of the page. There are so many things wrong with that , I won't even remark.

I would never be able to build somethingike that. It would just seem like nothing was ever getting done, and all those little bits and pieces would drive me nuts. Can you imagine if someone released a full etch kit?

Gee! It even has the wingnuts on the underside of the watchamajigger!

They've got that covered.

Production is not to start unless 2000 pre-orders are in. And every pre-order comes with a down-payment.

So, that about covers the how and what.
