Hi, I'm thinking of getting this model and i know that SU-76M it's kind of rare. DID anyone build it? How is It? It's actually ALAN/DML kit. I Know Alan kits are bad.
Thanks

Gregory,

I never heard a good thing about this kit. I believe many angles are wrong, and from my understanding, the entire interior is "made up", i.e., they just guessed where stuff goes. It's a shame b/c this was their most produced AFV (the soviets, not dml) after the T34, yet no one that I know of makes a decent kit of it.

It is the ALAN kit reboxed by DML in their IMPERIAL line. It came with new decals and tracks. It was BAD! I actually threw this kit out, adn I do not throw out kits. For example, the tracks were correct, but the kit road wheels were too thick to use them...

Avoid!

There are a few online builds if you look, but it is more a salvage operaqtion than anything else. The Miniart kit is not far off--they already released the chassis and the gun, so half the work is done. Their T-70 is pretty nice.

This just came up on Missing links site.

It can be built.

I did about 4 or so years it is a brute of a kit.

You need Friul Tracks and also The Eduard PE set which I believe is not around no more.

Bought mine from Squadron when they were on Comp sale paid like $4.00 got two sets come in handy as I have two kits well one now.

So you need to replace the upper Hull sections as too thick but from their it is good to go.

I use to have pics but somewhere on one of my Cd's

Will look over the weekend.

Not really a bad kit if you are into real building.

Not no OOB kit for sure. LOL

Heard stories of kit being remade years ago.

Still waiting have mine now 4 years or so.

Go for it kit is cheap.

Right on the links wheels are fat and fenders need to be remade also.

here is site for help on it.

Parts were in right places as compared to kit just lacking stuff and thick.

Side walls were like 3 or so scale inches thick

Don't think a Tiger I had steel this thick

Wish Dragon would remake the Suka as renamed by the Russians

I think I am one of the dozen or so people who have actually finished this kit.

As others have said, it is awful. About 80% of my kit was replaced. I would have been better off to replace 95% of it. even the tracks were too narrow for the road wheels (or the road wheels were too wide).

The one good thing: the decals went on nice.

I was one of the fools also that actually finished this kit i cheated a bit and made a fighting compartment cover to hide most of the kit issues i also had trouble with the wheels being too wide for the tracks but sanding them on the insides took care of that fairly easy but as already stated it would be much wiser now to wait for the miniart kit.

It's nice to see that Bob and Ron both persevered to finish really nice looking models.

Even by looking at the sprues in the open box, you can see the lack of finesse in this kit. Some of the plastic was 7mm thick. Ive never seen details so chunky and out of scale .. and thats the few that were included. Everything else was represented as blobs or not at all. To build this OOB is a non-starter. The Eduard PE and using the Zvezda ZIS-3 field gun to replace the representitive kits parts, does lift it a little. The indy tracks dont fit, so I had to file the inside of the teeth and the back of each road wheel to fit. And now that MiniArt are releasing a new version, buying the Dragon version, no matter how cheap, is a waste of those few dollars. Get something else that can be built and at least look decent.
My version below ... I decided I wasn´t going to be beaten, but in the end up it was a waste of energy. I was going to include this in a diorama, but have decidedto wait and get the new version and start again.

Yep tracks are a tad loose never did fix that

Come to think of it never finished the Interior.

A beer or Drink to all of my Fellow modelers who built the Beast

So are their any pictures of this new kit and I have never heard of this company Miniart or what ever

When the going gets tough the tough getting going

Cheers

Hi Jeff. Where have you been???
Miniart are an "up and coming" company from the Ukraine (some might say even "already there"), and have been featured here on Armorama quite often, but probably more for their figures and buildings, than armor.
The figure kits have stolen a lot of headlines, for their dramatic and useful poses, and the quality is getting better all the time. The buildings really have taken off .. vacuuformed styrene with details on both side, and at a very affordable price. With all accessoried included as standard, they cost peanuts comparing to similar, from other companies who produce in resin and plaster. They also have a line of 1/16 figure kits, ranging from knights in the middle ages, French musketeers, and lately added to that with classic Roman and Greek soldiers. Mounted Napoleonics are also on the way!!!
They released a T70 early production and also the Germanised version to very good reviews. Including a set of figures each time, they have been very well recieved. As this is the basis of the SU76M, it was only a matter of time before its released.
