Hello everybody
Are 1/32 scale figures and 1/35 scale compatible? For example does a 1/35 head fit and look acceptable on a 1/32 figure? Or will some modification be needed?
The same goes for a 1/32 figure standing next to a 1/35 tank (for example), will the difference in scale be noticeable or could you get away with it?
Any advice would be much appreciated?
Jamie

Mixing 1/35 and 1/32 scale parts on the same figure would not look right. The difference is enough to be an issue as the head and say hands would not be in proper proportion.
Mixing 1/32 and 1/35 figures in the same dio is not really an issue though. People come in all sizes; tall, short, skinny, built, etc. The issue is with gear. As long as you keep all gear and accessories the same scale; for example, weapons, canteens, ammo pouches, you should be fine. As people do come in different sizes, gear is usually standard.
Placing them with 1/35 armor is not an issue either. Again, people come in different sizes. I often mix 1/35 figures with 1/32 aircraft, helos, and civilian vehicles. Likewise, I have mixed 1/32 figures with 1/35 vehicles as well. You can see some of them in my Showcases below.

Hi Gino,
Impressive showcase you have there!
Yeah I put the same topic on Historicus Forma and have been told the same thing. Don't mix the body parts cos it will look wrong.
So at least I know, I'm glad that it doesn't make a difference when mixing with armour as long as the equipment is the same. I'll keep all of this in mind.
Cheers
Jamie

Mixing 1/35 and 1/32nd vehicles isn't correct, but many people get away with it, particularly if they want civilian vehicles alongside the military ones.
As for mixing figures, as long as the heads are approximately the same size, they will usually blend in. Human torsos and limbs vary a lot in size, but heads much less so, and that's usually the giveaway. That said, a lot of 54mm figures are not 1/32nd, they are 1/30th or even 1/28th, so eyeball the various combinations before using them. And of course, use accessories in just one scale--rifles come in only one length.
In 1/35th scale, a 5'10" man stands precisely two inches tall. Many older Tamiya figures scale out at just 5'6", and even for someone who grew up in the Great Depression, that's pretty short. Placing one of them alongside a 1/32nd scale figure could be unintentionally funny.

I find that even mixing figures from 2-3 separate manufacturers who claim them to be 1/35 is still a disaster.
