Hi there
Want a figure for the commanders' hatch of my M4, and roughed up an armature. I'm seeking an opinion on the figures' posture, basically how natural it looks.
He is to be talking to a GI standing next to the Sherman. The head may change position to suit the angle of sight and conversation, but the body is roughly where I want it.
The aim to have him in a winter combat jacket, but also to have him in overalls.
Cheers for any feedback, and yes, he has got oven mits on, and Nicole Richie arms...;-)

Looks good from the front Brad but seems to have his bodyweight a bit far back from the rear pic, could just e the angle of the pic though.
I suppose it depends how close the GI is to the tank but i'd say he'd have his bodyweight further forward to peer over the side of the tank and down to the GI. Don't get me wrong, it looks good, thats just my opinion.
Keep us posted with the finished peice,
James

Gday James
hehe it actually is the angle of the pic! His head is approx. level with the outer edge of the hatch ring, and from here the angle of his head can see anyone, even if standing next to the hullsides... But that said, the GI may be further from the tank than that... And yep, it is your opinion, and that is exactly what I'm after!

Ciao Bradley,
I wanted to give my two cents, but I'm getting the "red X" thing. Where are the photos located?
Ciao for now

Ciao Bradley,
Hey, I went and saw your uploaded pictures and I think that the figure looks really nice. I realy like the pants and the front detail on the jacket (really neat.) You need to teach the rest of us how to sculpt, though.

Gday Rob
I think you may have perused an earlier sculpt, as I hve ben using photobucket to host pics for a while now. The Red Xs atually showed a rough figure with wire arms and a half filled out body with a resin head in the the commanders hatch of an M4... Don't know why you can't see the pics though?!
Cheers for the thoughts on the other one though

I think he looks pretty good. If the tank isn't moving he would be more relaxed.
My personal experience in riding in the commander position of an M5 Stuart, you get whipped around quite a bit from swells in the road or bumps. I liken it to riding in the back of a school bus. It seems like every turn is accelerated... and I think it is (although I don't know the physics). Having a firm grip on something is always helpful.
Good luck an keep us posted as you complete more.

I'd like add my 2 cents as well.
I like the pose. I see that you are
trying to tilt the shoulders. That
is a stricky one.
From what I can see in the 2 pics,
the shoulders are way too wide and
uneven in width.

Thanks for the feedback!
~Mark, I will take your experiences into account... He almost looks to be ina relaxed but braced position as if fording a river or crossing a narrow bridge? Hmm, may have to alter him slightly.
~ Taesung, you are right about the shoulders! I would have realised this eventually mid sculpt, but the 'heads up' now is worth it's weight in gold
I remember trimming back one side, but obviously not the other... He'd struggle to fit through a doorway once putty bulked out his shoulders
No soccer tomorrow, so he may get worked on.
Cheers
Brad
