I’m working on Dragon’s M1A1 AIM kit and I’ve noticed many of my reference photos of these vehicles in Iraq seem to have what looks like horizontal strips of tape running along the bottom front of the tanks turret. My question is what exactly is it and what purpose does it serve?
Thanks,
Noah

Noah,
It's Velcro for the MILES sytem when the vehicles are in the field during training. The MILES strips are attached to the VELCRO.

Pete-- I believe the latest series also have the tape squares on the the front of the turret for identification panels. Seems to me Gino told me once they are those combat identification panels holders. I think they are also along the side of the turret.
