To be honest ( and I know we haven't seen the actual sprues or anything) the Italeri kit has to be a _lot_ better than the build-up they presented at the Nuremburg (?) show. That model had a lot of serious shape problems that were clearly visible on the painted display model.
The display model could have been a slightly modified version of a resin kit, just to let us know a Stag was coming. If so, great. But if it was a master or test shot, there are a lot of things that need work.
I have seen the sprue shots for the Bronco Stag and it looked miles better on the sprue than the Italeri kit did painted and built.
Just a head's up!

Sorry, but having actually HANDLED the Italeri prototype (at the Nuremberg trade Fair) I'd like to take the opportunity to reiterate (again) that it WAS plastic, it wasn't resin, wood, Kryptonite or cunningly-carved green Moon Cheese.

Jim,
I know that you have said this before and I believe you, but I was trying to cut Italeri some slack. :-)
BTW, did you ever get any response from Italeri to the list of things I saw with that model?

Maybe thats why they wont meet the May release date that Fabio mentioned. I hope they get it right, as I feel that Italeri have done themselves some favours with their new products lately, and releasing a bummer (especially as it has to compete with similar releases), could put a serious dent in that again.

@Paul - would you post some of the shortcomings that you observed here so the rest of us can expect what's coming if they don't make alterations?
thanks

Well, I could, but I think I'll keep it off the net until we see what the real kit looks like. Notwithstanding that I've started things by making these comments here, I really don't want to slag the kit until it is actually out. If they have made the corrections, my comments are of no further use and if they haven't I'll make the comments again when the kit arrives.

Hey guys,
According to our friends from Down Under, the Staghound will be released in july 2007. Price will be around 40 Euro (50-55 Dollar). Expensive kit, but it has resin and PE-parts.

If they do like the Sahariana, be patient and wait a year or so before they release a cheaper, slightly different variant without the resin and PE.
Otherwise hopefully the Bronco kit will be released soon...
Cheers,
Christophe

Hopefully today I'll know when Italeri will release the Stag. Concerning the "errors" and the resin/non resin nature of the kit they were showing in Nurnberg, the kit was a mock up made from various materials and it's not the actual one that will come out from the production line it was put together just to show what they were workin'on, as often done by plastic kit producers.
Hopefully I will have soon the pre-production sprues to show you...
