Hi,
This campaign Aerodrome have started as a subject at the forum in portuguese (some are not too at ease with the english) so the topics are at the forum in portuguese.
As some non portuguese speakers have joined the campaign, we are glad that happens, a topic at the general forum it's needed and so here is it.
At the ArmoramA group at MSN have been created a album for the campaign Operation Aerodrome and each participant will have one to placed the photos taken during the campaign (those who want to participate please send a PM to me or Paulo (ArmouredSprue) and we will create the album for her/him).
The campaign have no contest or prizes as it has been thought as a way for us to change tips and help one another to develop our technics and skills.
We will give a warm welcome to all those wishing to enlist at the campaign.

Well done Tuga. As well as encouraging the building and skills within your own group its nice to share it with the rest of us. Hopefully when the campaign is finished you will share all the work. There may be no prizes but I dont think thats important. Maybe with a word to Jim, he may design a ribbon for your event.

Thanks Tuga for the photo album. I'm submitting a Flakpanzer Wierbelwind. Is the campaign OOB or can we use PE.....I have two Flak kits and only one set of PE so either way I'm happy. :-) Do we begin with picture of the construction through completion?

Hi,
Don
Accessories are free so we can use whatever we want. I will use PE myself.
As the campaign has been thought as a way of sharing info, tips and experiences all those that can do that should do it.
My story:
A Flak unit SdKfz 7 (TAMIYA #35050) that has arrived to the airfield entrance Sentry Hut (it's that the correct name ?) and Tower (ITALERI #415 and #418) is receiving instructions where to go in order to protect the airfield.
The SdKfz 7/1 it's a kit I've semi built and painted several years ago (about 20) rebuild and detailed with pieces of the PE sets (my first experience with them).
You can see how they look now at my album (click the banner at my sig line).

Hello all,
i just read TUGA's story and was wondering what your (the other paricipants in this campaign) story is?
Here is mine + the kits i'm planning to use:
Its early 1945, somewhere on an airfield in Germany. A Mistel 1 composite aircraft is being prepared for a special operation. Mechanics are making sure both aircraft are in good working order and are checking the engines of both the junkers 88 and the messerschmitt 109. Meanwhile, another mechanic is pouring fuel, coming from an Opel Blitz Fuel Truck, into the aircraft. The pilot that is supposed to fly this monster is watching the progress his groundcrew is making and thinks of the hazardous task that is laying ahead.
Thats my idea for operation aerodrome! The kits im gonna use for this are the following:
Italeri: 1/72 Mistel 1 Ju88 A with Me109 F
Extra Tech: 1/72 Jumo 213 engine for Ju 88 (Resin / PE)
Extra Tech: 1/72 Daimler Benz 605 engine for Me 109 (Resin / PE)
Heller: 1/72 Luftwaffe Groundcrew
FM Detail Sets: 1/72 Opel Blitz WWII German Fuel Truck (Resin kit)
Reheat Models: 1/72 Luftwaffe WWII Accessory Set (PE set)
Various: Some scratchbuild stuff to complete the dio
Im gonna post some pictures in a while showing the progress so far.
Well, im curious what your story is!

I have a built german airfield diorama with a Bf 109 G-6 and I think it can give some ideas to the participants of the campaign.
http://www.geocities.com/engintr_2000/bf.html
I am planning a small diorama in 1:35 scale ...a group of luftwaffe pilots at a before-flight briefing or leaving for a flight .there will be Luftwaffe Kubelwagen or schwimmwagen parked and and I dont know yet
I will convert DML german infantry figures (Barbarossa) using slymasta epoxy.I will try to add flight jackets, change pants to flight trousers and changing boots to flight boots and whatever I can do.
Happy modelling all.

Hi,
The Campaign second week it''s over. Are things rolling ?
Are you still following your original idea or have you made alterations to it ?
All those that can do it, don''t forget to place pics of the construction stages at her/his albuns at the ArmoramA group on MSN.
And the Campaign Journal, have you placed some entries ?
Let''s keep the Campaign rolling.

Hi,
For those that are building a german flak for the campaign or just interested by the theme, at Missing-Lynx there is an article Flak – from a modeller's viewpoint (part I of II) by Dan Mouritzsen.
The article is well documented with photos and drawings of flak guns and emplacements.

Hi,
Graywolf, one more link about british airfields, this one about Control Towers, it have a lot of info and photos of control towers at british airfields during WWII.
MGenuino have posted it at the portuguese section and because he don't remembers who is looking for airfield references, asked for my help.

Hi,
As you know the ArmoramA group at MSN is running out of space for new albuns and photos, so Jim has decided to create two new groups out there - 'Armorama.br' and 'Armorama.uk'.
As this campaign has started at the portuguese section the albuns of the campaign have been moved to that area, so I beg to the participants that place their 5 official photos of the campaign at the respective album.
The link - Campanha AERODROMO.
Thanks to all and my apologies for the trouble but it's to the benefit all the ArmoramA community.
