I’ve been going through the instructions getting ready to begin building but the correct number of links per side seems a little vague, can someone help me out?
Thanks,
Noah

The correct # is however many it takes. Sorry, but that is the just of it. Based on how you position the road wheel arms and the front idler, the # will vary per side.

Actually, the best thing to do with the DML track is trash them and get the AFV Club individual working links. I can't speak highly enough of them. They are far easier to work with and look perfect.

A matter of opinion. I have had no problems with the Dragon Magic Tracks and think they look fine as well. I also see no need for "workable" tracks. To each their own though.

I guess its a matter of opinion because I honestly love the Magic Tracks. Other than some minor cleanup, to me they are easy to use and allow you to put them how you want. I don't need working track on an already static model.
I know the M1A1 AIM tracks have a punch node that needs to be removed and required some cleanup in the middle so they fit but I started their latest Panzer offereing and I had no clean up at all.
But to each his own.

It took me 79 links per run for my M1A1. If you're having troubles with the vague instructions (or in some cases just plain wrong instructions) try picking up a copy of the April 07 issue of Model Military International- Jim Carswell has a great step by step article on building Dragon's M1 AIM, complete with corrections for the instructions.

Trevor,
Thanks for telling me about that magazine article. I am going to track down a copy.
I must be one of only a few people who were slightly disappointed by Dragon’s M1 AIM. It has nothing to do with the quality – the details are truly superb!
But there a Literally a ton of small parts / options and the layout of the instructions is often very hard to follow or of little use as actual placement of some parts is hard to determine from the drawings provided.
At least, that’s my problem with the kit.
