I'm going to build an E100 Ausf B (after looking at some of the fantasic models a couple of others have done). I found a company in Japan that casts a complete turrent for this, so I won't have to cut up the Maus turret to make one, I'll just have to modify it with what I want added or changed.
I just want to run a few things by to see if I'm going down the right path.
Armament: 128 mm PaK 44 L/55 from the Jagdtiger (I'd like to make it an L/66, but not sure how to do that yet, any pointers from the pros?). No coax decided on yet.
Commander's Coupola: Want to use a late production King Tiger (would like to find one with an MG mount on it). Want to add the IR gear (where can I get a good set without kit bashing the Tamiya Late G Panther?)
Add Tiger / Panther smoke launchers, any good addon kits available?
Upsize the exhaust, thinking either the King Tiger's or Late G Panther.
I understand there was a crane that would have mounted to the turret, for helping with the side skirts and possibly lowering the extra track links from the turret (if stowed similar to the king tigers), is there a picture of this and would it possible be stowed on the tank when not in use?
I found a great article from 2003 on what to add to the hull to bring it up to a possible better look, so I'll have a bit of extra tidbits on the hull as well.
Thank you.

Here is where you can buy it from http://www.hlj.com/product/AIF35-0024
Here is the link to the company themselves http://www.jttk.zaq.ne.jp/a-if/index.htm
They also make replacement tracks, drive sproacket and idler wheel, as well as a fully functional running gear.

I've always like these Ausf B vehicles, be it either on the Maus or the E100 chassis, and the Atelier Infinite sets are definitely the best there is, as for the co-ax weapon why not go for the 30mm 38/103 Jaboschreck barrel? I've seen a few using the 37mm flak gun and this would just set it apart from the rest.

A coax? In that turret?
Ever wondered why the Maus turret was so wide? Or looked at the JagdTiger?
With this turret, there is no room for a coax weapon.
And I also have my doubts about the rangefinder in that place.

Herbert, by co-ax I meant instead of the 75mm gun that the Maus turret featured, not as well as it, like you said there isnt a lot of space inside the turret to add the 30mm in too.

I got that, but I also mean that with only the 128mm gun, in this tapered down turret, I don't see the space for anything coax.

I get what you mean now Herbert, I was basing my co-ax ideas on the more maus style of turret as opposed to the bulked up KT one.

Gary,
Take a look at the Dragon Sd.Kfz 251 Ausf. D 3 in 1 kit #6233.
You get the optional parts to build a Nachtjager Unit using the IR nightsights so, you could use these on the E100 and still build a very good half-track to accompany it!

I wasn't that sure if I could get a coax weapon in that turret, but I was thinking of at least a coax MG34 or maybe an MG42 at least. I'm not sure of the dimensions of the turret yet, so I would have to figure that out first.
I ran across an Tank MG34 AA mount that I was thinking of using on this as well, just not sure if I could mount the IR system as well as an AA mount.

Thank you. I'll look at that one as well. I was only aware of the Tamyia Panther G had an IR system in the kit.

Also Blast Models do an update get for the Dragon Panther G for the full set of IR devices as well as the armoured box for the back of the hull which obviously you wouldnt need, but that set would be quite a bit cheaper than buying the Dragon 251 just for the IR components.

Thank you. I've just look at it and it is excellent! I do want to add the IR system with MG42 mounted thou, so I may get it as well to super detail the kit one.

I'm building my E-100 B using a turret designed by Andrew Spence and was scratch build by Mother ...I've modified it to my own liking and haven't decided if I'm going to add IR gear or not yet ...I sanded away all signs of those side skirts as I didn't see them as very practical in real combat use ..here are a couple of pictures so far .

Rick.
Did you by chance recieve any information from Richard Spence about his turret? I've emailed him, but still waiting to hear back from him. I have one picture of his tank that I can get dimensions from and build my own, as I've decided against buying a predone turret and I'm going to scratch build my own. I really like his mantlet.
The work you've done to date is wondeful on yours as well. The beige parts over the drivers and radio operators stations, what tank are they from?

Going on the colour of the plastic I would say its from a Tamiya kit, one of the Panther Ausf G's they do.

I would say it's from a King Tiger kit, those are not Panther hatches...
Looks sharp!

The hatches are from a Tamiya King tiger (if you notice that the hatches on the E-100 kit are backwards)and my mantlet was made using a mantlet from the very old Tamiya Hunting tiger kit cut down and reshaped a bit with Milliput and textured with Mr Surfacer 500.
Rick
edit ... I do have the plans for the turret but this one was built and sent to me as a gift.
