I am TRYING to finish 7 armor models that I have been working on since last year...
Whenever I think I finally get one done, I find something else to do to it or something to change and that made me wonder... Are we EVER really finished with a model???
I just can't seem to get one the way I think it ought to be and it's frustrating..

Well - from my perspective ...
I'd say that when you're happy and you know it - you're always done with the model and move on to the next without looking back.
To become happy is set out what you want to do at the beginning - and acheive it at the end - however long it may take.
I'm a happy modeler!

Another thing to ponder, Harry....
when you hang around this site, someone in the crowd always comes up with a fantastic idea that you want to try.....
.....soooooo, ya just go back and add it to whatever you're working on, or something you thought was finished! That's part of the fun, you're NEVER really done!
Cheers.

It helps me to think of my hobby as a living thing, always growing and maturing. I've taken short cuts on models just to finish them quickly only to go back and "fix" them later. Other models I've done years before, I've updated with new details. A few I've even completely repainted and still others I've totally left alone. I'm currently in the middle of an extensive kit-bash/scratchbuild project that I keep reworking because of new research material that has revealed some detail I didn't previously see. But I know, in the end, I'll be much hapier because I took my sweet time and kept reworking the project, instead of sprinting to finish line.
So to answere your question: yes, you can be finally done with a model, but it might take a while.

I just try to move on to the next one and incorporate the new idea in it. Sometimes going back causes more problems than it's worth. a wise man once said "when you get to the part tht you feel you need one more brush stroke, stop because you are there."

IMHO - NO.
I can look at Every one of my kits and see something else I can add or do or customize.
I think you have to get to a happy state with each kit or diorama. One in this happy state you can say Ok - that's enough. Lets move on.
Some people get to a 'happier state' or are more 'done' than others. Its all perspecitve.

I see each of my models as another step forward on my modelling journey. It's amazing to look at the first armor kit I ever built, and then look at the one I just 'finished.'
I also try to use a new or different technique with each kit. This helps add to my arsenal of techniques that I can draw on for those hundred dollar Super Projects.

Also for me any model could turn in a never ending story, but I tried to convince myself that all I coud add or modify I can do it the nex time I build another model (could be the same or another). I almost managed to do it, the problem is that projects are becoming longer and longer to be completed that... I stick back and try to be happy with what I've done!!!
