pretty much the same as any farm house in canada during the same time period. check out the quebec area.

Could you be more precise ?
You know a farm in the south of France doesn't look the same than a farm in Normandy or Alsace Lorraine, even more in 60 years ago. Where do you want to locate your scene ?
Basically to answer our question, we can say the main material used in the 40's for building farms were stones and woods. The richer used bricks for the construction.
