Here you go guys, You asked for these so i'm posting the pics of the construction as asked for. The only thing missing are pics of the suspension barackets being in stalled, 16 brackets and 32 screws is all y'all missed, and of course the three screws with putting the metal tub in the hull!!!!
PRIMING THE METAL PARTS!!!
MORE PRIMING
The inside in the hull showing the torsion bar suspension.
The road whels are set, note the missing road wheel on the first set, this was an expiriment with extra parts in the kit.First was a dry fit and when I found wheels still worked as advertised and lets me have one a little different from the rest out there
The monster gear box
and finally the full set of road wheels attached, I had some issues with the "grub"srcews in the the socket for the allen wrench striped out on three of them and I replaced them with screws of the same diameter and they worked fine!!!
More to follow soon!!! stug

Looking good StuG! Keep those "in progress" coming
They'll have to do until I grow up and I'm able to get one of those kits for myself.
BTW, do you have any clue how fastthat thing will go? Most R/C cars cannot be driven indoors so I'm assuming that the tank will be the same.

HI guys and thanks for the comments, they are encouraging for me to continue the project!! As I have noted earlier i have hit some snags in construction mostly due to fasteners stripping, but otherwise a great kit!!!! As for anyone looking for one of their own i have to refer you to my good friend David Tong who lives in HK, He was kind enough to purchase the kit for me at well below the 1200 usd retail that the kit goes for everywhere but Hong Kong, kis screen name here is SS-74 so please contact him if you wish to get one, he's a great guy and will more than likely be happy to help!!! stug

Looks like you got a great start on the beast. It took me three months to finish mine, and I'm thinking of going back with some PE parts now that the sheets are available separately.
If you're planning on R/C-ing it, put a blob of hot glue on the immobile ends of the torsion springs.. It'll stop all the clacking that happens when you compress the suspension.
I have the Tiger and a Pershing (that I may sell to buy a King Tiger) You can check them out Here in the Tank folder. I'm not real happy with the color of the Tiger.. the testors paint is too green but I had no tamiya colors available back then.. now the LHS has the tamiya cans.. maybe time to repaint.

GS, before you sell that nice pershing give a call or PM SS-74, he got my stuff real cheap in HK, and it came with all the stuff you'll need to play with it ASAP. Example my Tiger I came with 4 Chenell radio, 2 bateries, and a charger for around half of what Hobby Town USA wanted to order the Tank itself for $1300.00, for just the tank!!!! PM SS-74, trust me!!! stug

Thanks, but my buddy owns the LHS that does R/C.. got em real cheap!!!
I got Zagi motors in both of mine( which you may think about doing before you finish yours) to slow the beasties to a more normal scale speed. The Tiger is still way too fast and I don't want to rip it apart to put the gearbox mod in. If I'd only known when I built it.
You going to get the metal tracks for it?

Stug,
Hey, you jump the wagon to start building the Tiger I:>
But you did a pretty damn good job on it so far, keep it up and post more pics.
By the way, I have seen metal tracks for the 1/16 Tiger I in Hong Kong but I'm not sure about the price. Do you think it's necessary to use metal tracks instead of the kit tracks?

I don't have the metal ones, but a guy in Hong Kong sells them. Kenny Kong is the name that comes to mind. I think they're $150 or something for a set. I haven't a clue to how to contact him at this moment. I may be able to find a link when I get home..
The metal tracks slow the tank down and provide better traction from what I've read. I'd rather put the cash towards another tank or battle system. I guess they are also more for coolness factor.. sorta like putting $40 Fruil metal tracks on a $20 plastic kit.
Have you checked the large scale R/C tank boards?
On the Mark page-- has a discussion board and 1/6 Tanks..

Well i plan to use this as an R/C tank so i for one can't see spending the $200 for the Aber PE set, as i plan on using it as intended. the only thing i see as "out of scale" are the fenders and the tank i'm representing didn't have the fenders mounted, so I think i'm safe there. Now as for metal tracks I'll decide the need for them this week end when i do my trials on the hull, I can live with the tracks that are in the kit!! but if i have a problem with throughing the tracks like i did with the 1/35th R/C Tiger I i'll change them out to the metal links, the only other thing that'll make change to the meteal links is the wear time on the plastic links, but it also would make a difference on the metal used in casting the metal links as well. On the 1/35th Tiger the Pewter links are acceptable with the cost of a set of links, but on the 1/16th pewter tracks will undoubtly be a little expensive for me to use such a add-on for something that doesn't wear for a long period of time!!! thanks for the comments, and any other questions will be answer as i notice them being added. Sushi sorry i thought the "group build" was just to pick on Dave!!!! SORRY!!!! stug
