Once again, the Network was represented at the annual Nuremberg Toy Fair. Here's the first (general) report.
There is nothing unusual about book signings in the 'mainstream' booktrade, but it is a little unusual when it happens within Military Book Publishing. It then becomes an event worth noting in one's diary.

2007 is the year of the first model contest at Omaha Beach !
The much-maligned scale of 1/48th was present at the Nuremberg show - not perhaps in the quantity of 1/35th but certainly in the qualitative sense. 2007 is going to see some VERY interesting material in 1/48th scale - all that's needed now, is to convince the 'nay-sayers'...
Although 'Braille-scale' still remains a touch overshadowed by 1/35th scale, there is no reason to believe that it's in any danger of vanishing. Virtually all the 'majors' continue to support it and certain companies such as Mirage have some wonderful material coming out..
This story was originally posted on ModelGeek, and since there are some quite significant 'snippets' within it, I make no apologies for re-publishing it here.

As modellers, apart from building bigger piles of brightly-colored boxes containing various models, we are also great consumers of products such as glues or paints. In this report from the Nuremberg Trade Show, i'll be bringing some information of new ranges and some expansion within existing ones...
The Nuremberg Toy Fair is probably the largest event of its type in the world. The show is held exclusively for professionals in the sector - manufacturers, distributors and retailers all attend to showcase their new products for the coming year. One of the (very active) 'sectors' is the area which concerns us - modelling...
Something very different in this calendar for 2007..
One of the minor luxuries afforded to a News Editor is the opportunity to do a little 'editorializing' from time to time. The end of the year seems like as good a time as any, to take a highly personalized (and GROSSLY opinionated) view of what's made the headlines, what seemed like a good idea at the time and what will continue to be the talking points in 2007. So as I pause briefly to throw another handful of sprues onto the roaring Yule-tide fire, I bid you welcome to my view of 2006....

Simply not enough work is done (on my part) to cover what is coming out in 1/72nd scale, to retify this and to 'mollify' the many braille-scalers out there, I have decided to do a 'Compilation' story looking at the recent releases from various manufacturers...

I would like to see if I can help clear up some tire details about the Italeri modern 5 ton trucks that are on the market. The kits need a lot of work to make them accurate. That’s why there are so many after market detail set available. The military unit I am in has about 2 dozen of these trucks. We received them directly from the factory (AM General) and therefore they were not modified before we got them. I have see many pictures of these truck in the field and it looks like deployed units use whatever they have on hand when replacement are needed. This tends to make vehicles misidentified when these pictures are used for reference purposes.
Formations Models, should be the first stop for anyone enhancing their Shermans. This is a company who works exclusively in producing AM parts for the Sherman. Their new releases continue this trend...
Another great addition to their line of the "Armor At War Series" (photo essays) is the title "U.S. Tank Battles In France 1944-45" by Steven Zaloga.
