It is more of a 'behind the scenes' operation in the new forums.
1. User suspects spammer at large
2. User flags post to get moderator attention
3. Mods get a private message
4. Mods terminate spam account
I'm not sure if the user who flagged the spammer gets any feedback.
It's more efficient but I will also miss the slightly medieval touch of the "public executions"
