I got it from a veteran who was on the range when it happened. He was an armor instructor on the transition from M48A2 to M60's. The recoil locks had not been set and when the cannon fired it recoiled into the ground. A German contractor came in with earth moving equipment to dig it out. The bemused German contractor who didn't care what it was so long as he was paid. I also heard it from an M103 tanker who was in the area on exercise. Maybe it's a fish story but it'd make a funny diorama. It goes with the general theme of what an old first sergeant told me "sure it's new and high tech but is it soldier proof?" Soldiers can and will find a way to break anything.

Ah, so it was an accident, not normal usage. Certainly possible in that case. KL

Maybe a nice AM PE set will eventually be released by someone.

I cant wait for the 1/35 version and I hope they get it right....man it would be great to see the M-55, M53 Honest John Corporal and who knows maybe a Pershing on Tracks!

Dragon already boxed a M26 Pershing. Twice in fact. So did Tamiya and Hobby boss and probably a couple more I don't know about.

He means a Pershing 1A missile, not the tank. KL
