True Earth has a new kind of paint that combines the advantages of acrylics and oils. Called SDW, they promise very interesting features.
According to True Earth, SDW Shading Colors are the newest concept in waterbased resins. They are similar to acrylic paints, but with an amazing shading and blending ability.
There is no need for thinning them for airbrushing nor for brush, offering perfect and smooth coverage for both.
Two states of use: Just out of the bottle they are fluid and flowy, availing free hand complex jobs, or drawing very long lines with a single token of color.
But if you leave some drops of paint into an open jar they will get progressively denser within some hours, to the consistence an oli paint, and can be used similarly.
As the curing time is longer than regular acrylic paints, you can put two colors aside, or overlap them, and move the brush across the join line to achieve a soft blending.
Figure painters can also benefit from these longer working time, that allows working like acrylic in layers or like oils mixing colours.
They can be thinned with water.
At this moment, only two sets are available: Basic colours (Primary Set) and German AFV Camo Set '43'45
