Once again, next month will bring a number of new titles of interest to the Armor Modeller. The most sought-after of the new releases will doubtless be Modelling the SdKfz 251 Halftrack considering the flood of new kit releases of this vehicle...
Only three armor-related books from Osprey this month, however, as is frequently said, quantity does not indicate quality and these three books should interest modellers from both the allied and the axis 'sides'...
Beginning with the 251 book, it is either beautifully timed or already outdated. When the book was (presumably) written, the only 251s on the market were the old Tamiya kit and perhaps one or two of the AFV Club releases. The last month has seen the announcement of around 10 current and future release of this ubiquitious vehicle. The book itself covers the following areas:
# Materials
# Modelling the subject
# Intermediate build
# Advanced build
# Master build
# 'Special feature'
# Further reading, media and websites
# Museums and collections
# Kits available
# Index
Despite my misgivings, it is doubtless going to be as well researched, presented and useful as its companion volumes in this highly useful series....
Modelling the SdKfz 251 Halftrack
(Osprey Modelling 6)
Author: Robert Oehler
US Price: $17.95
UK Price: £12.99

The next book for November release is the second volume of Zaloga's useful book on the Bulge Campaign of December 1944. Always an interesting subject for modellers this is one of those books of a series (Campaign) which are always interesting and informative...
Battle of the Bulge 1944 (2)
Bastogne
(Campaign 145)
Author: Steven J Zaloga
Illustrator: Howard Gerrard, Peter Dennis
US Price: $18.95
UK Price: £12.99
Availability: Not yet published
The third and last book, deals with another interesting subject - the war in the Pacific:
US World War II Amphibious Tactics
Army & Marine Corps, Pacific Theater
(Elite 117)
Author: Gordon Rottman
Illustrator: Peter Dennis
US Price: $16.95
UK Price: £10.99

The cover says it all really - how many dioramas are we going to see, inspired by THAT particular artwork?
