Tamiya's Type 10 kit is an extremely nice kit and it's glueable "vinyl" tracks are highly detailed and look good on the finished model. However, there is a certain look of weight to individual tracks. There is also the fact that the tracks included in the kit are the all steel ones, so if you want the rubber padded road tracks you'll need to glue an awful lot of pieces of strip styrene to them.
review
Orochi has two different track sets available, one with and one without the rubber pads. I should point out that they truly are different sets, if you leave the pads off this set that will not have the right detail underneath. The set itself consists of multiple sprues consisting of the track links, center connectors, and track pads as well as four rubber sprues containing the end connectors. The instructions are pretty simple and consist of a sheet of paper glued to the inside of the box lid with a diagram of how the pieces fit together.
Everything in the set goes together without glue except the track pads which will need to be glued in place. The pieces snap together quite quickly and easily and are quite forgiving. However, each piece has two sprue connections to cut and sand and this will take you some time. Ten links took me about 8 minutes to clean up and put together, so you're looking at around 2-3 hours to make your track runs.
The kit tracks are a tight fit within the side skirts and these tracks are just a hair wider, so they will fit but it's going to be pretty snug. They wrap around the drive sprocket fairly well but you'll need to push a bit to get them to sit in place, some light sanding on the teeth of the sprocket helps. In the end, you can get away with about 60 links per side if you're going to only use what can be seen, otherwise you get enough for 100 links per side.
Conclusion
Overall, these are nice, detailed, and fairly easy to assemble track links. For the price, they are a very good value compared to other aftermarket track sets. My only hesitation is that the Tamiya tracks are extremely nice right out of the box, so they really don't call out for replacement.
