Introduction
Part photo etch sets have been around for quite a while. I was introduced to them on a work trip to Poland about 15 years ago. I was amazed and intimidated by the detail and number of parts for Tamiya's P-51B, including separate canopy framing! Back to the present, Part are still producing good quality detail sets for just asbout everything on the scale plastic market. By happy coincidence, just as I was staring to build IBG's Marmon-Herrington Mk II ME, I received two sets: a general set with hinges, replacement hood/grills and exterior details (P35-265) and a fender replacement and unditching trough/sand channel set (P35-266). Both sets are designed for the initial release Mk II but look to be acceptable for the newer Middele East release.
Review
Both sets are crisply etched, with fine detail. The instructions are basic and look to be clear enough printed on half and quarter A4 sheets, 1 sheet per set. P35-265 address some of the shortcomings of the IBG kits, namely the missing door detail and provides the option to go with a more in scale appearance for the hood and armoured grills and mechanisms for the grills. There are also plenty of hinges, tie downs, straps and so on to complement the kit supplied etch or to replace some items, for example: the fan and antenna mount. Curiously, one item that I thought would have been included was a new dashboard and dials. The kit provides blank dials so you'll still have to source something appropriate, maybe Part can be convinced to do another set that addresses the interior?
P35-266 provides the fenders, a pierced sand channel to replace the earlier tread plate version in the kit. Both types were used so check your references. You also get a few tie down straps and hinges.
Conclusion
Both sets will be useful (and reasonably priced) additions depending on taste and needs. I will be using both on my review build of the IBG kit and making further evaluations on fit and instructions etc.
