Introduction
Adding to the ever growing family of all-inclusive paint sets,
Acrylicos Vallejo releases three new sets paint; one to the AFV Painting Systems and two to the Camouflage Colors line paints.
Review
These sets are all-inclusive collections of paint geared to particular subject making it very easy for the modeler to create color schemes, quickly and simply. The AFV Painting System sets are comprised of a primer, half-tones of color to build the depth of the scheme being painting as well as providing a clear satin finish sealer. The Camouflage sets provide a base color and half-tone of the same color to help bring out a true representation of the colors focused on in the sets.
“Airbrush colors for graded highlights, shadows and volumes.
AFV Painting System. Consists in the application of a series of base colors in half and quarter tones, in a gradual change from one shade to another. These effects of light and shadow, contrast and volume, will give the scale model an authentic and realistic appearance.”~ Acrylicos Vallejo

- Light
- Olivgrun
- Camouflage Light Green

The German Camouflage 1943/1944 set is part of the AFV Camouflage Color series of paint sets from Vallejo. This set contains 6 x 8ml bottles of Vallejo’s Model Air paint that can be used to create the three tone German camouflage scheme as seen in WWII during the 1943 to 1944 time period. There are two colors that aid in making up each of the three colors in the scheme. This allows for proper shifting of tones that is seen naturally with weathered paint.
Conclusion
I have had the chance to use many of the AFV Painting System sets, Camouflage sets as well as the Weathering sets provided by Vallejo and have found these to be an extremely viable source in obtaining a high quality, multi-tonal finish to my projects. The sets are simple to use with the step-by-step painting guide provided on the back. The inclusion of primer, paint and clear sealer provided in the AFV Painting System sets is a big win for me. Everything I need to do a job is right there every time.
The 8ml bottles are much smaller than the traditional 17ml bottles sold through the Model Air line of paints; however, there is more than enough paint provided to adequately paint an average of 4 to 5 1/35th scale models due to the painting process and through the use of thin, evenly covered coats.
The pricing on these sets is typically between $12 US and $17 US. The fact that these sets are like one-stop shopping when it comes to painting a particular subject only adds to the value!
Highly recommended!!
