introduction
Using casualities of war, KIA soldiers or corpses in dioramas or vignettes bring more realism to the war scene but these are really rare pieces and hard to find such figures on market . To fill this gap for the Vietnam scenes,
Vladimir Demchenko sculpted a new pair as one of the BRAVO-6 latest releases.
B6-35017 Viet Cong Fighters-Ace of Spades includes 2 dead VC figures in their typical clothing and weapons.
box
The kit comes in standard light brown cardboard box of BRAVO-6. Body parts of the figures are inserted in small plastic zip-lock bags to avoid unexpected damages during transfer or storage. Smaller parts like arms, canteen and weapons are secured in a different plastic bag. The front part of the box shows a photo of the assembled and painted figures which can be helpful during painting.
parts
The figures come in medium grey resin parts. The resin quality is good and details are crisp. No casting mistakes or excess resin on parts, just two very small air bubbles to fill on the hands of figure-A. Note that a quite tiring and careful work will be needed to remove the figures from the casting blocks as in all lying figures.
Both figures are posed lying dead on the ground, Figure-A flat on the back and Figure-B on his left side. Asian facial details like snub nosed ,stuffed lips, slanting eyes, high cheek bones and straight hair are well defined. They wear pajama type, long sleeved cotton shirts and trousers with no pockets. VietCong wore no uniforms, dressed in the same type of clothing as the local peasants or farmers, and blended into the landscape when their mission was complete. The color of the clothing may differ usually in black, sometimes grey, khaki, OD green, brown or tan. Figure-B has a scarf tied on his neck. As for the footgear; they have
Ho Chi Minh sandals; an improvised footwear worn by VC made out of cut up truck tyres for soles and cut up inner tubes for straps. Straps of sandal and details of toes are well defined. Arms are given as seperate parts on Figure-A as left arm is cast on the main part of Figure-B. Cloth folds are well defined.
Figure-A carries a
Chicom chest rig with seven pouches, 3 big center pouches and 2 small on each sides. Chest rig is secured with straps tied on his neck and backside. An
AK-47 is given as a seperate part to display next to the figure.
Figure-B has a
SKS chest rig with 10 pouches, secured with shoulder straps crossed on back and tied on waist. A Chicom style
NVA Water bootle in cloth cover to assembly to the back of the figure and a
SKS rifle with folding bayonet to display next the figure are inside the kit.
