Plusmodel, that wonderful company from the Czech Republic, bring us many interesting items ranging from full kits to small accessories. Some of these items are easy to find a home for, and some are a bit more scene specific. The Plusmodel catalog of goodies is usually the first place I’ll look for that certain something.
the set
Enclosed in a plastic and card sleeve are two laser cut/laser engraved sheets of wood. A total of 30 signs are included in two styles (15 of each). Scaled out, the posts are approximately a 2”x2” and the signs themselves would be on ¾” thick lumber…logical sizes for the application. No instructions are included as this simple set is self-explanatory.
The first style is depicted as two boards, slightly offset giving a nice appearance. A skull and crossbones on top with “Minen!” on the lower plank. The second style appears as three boards with the skull and crossbones placed between “Achtung” & “Minen!”. The message is clear in any language!!
The parts remove easily from the fret with just a few attachment points to cut through with a hobby knife. The laser cutting leaves a burn mark on the edges, so sanding these off or staining/painting may be desirable. Assembly is just a matter of attaching the sign to the post. For a little more variety, the boards can be separated easily to add space between them or show the boards broken/split/missing. Keep in mind, though, with the light color of the wood these are more representative of new signs.
conclusion
If you need some mine field signs for a diorama, or being transported in the back of a truck, these will do the trick. Since these are made of wood, distressing them is very easy. Personally, I would like the engraving a bit darker, as any weathering that I tried washes them right out.
SUMMARY
Highs: Easy to prepare, provides extra cargo in a truck bed, leaning up against a building or vehicle, or perimeter marking in a diorama.Lows: Etching too light, costs about 50 cents a sign.Verdict: If you have a specific need for these they will serve the purpose, or just extra "props" lying around a scene.

About James Bella (c5flies) FROM: CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES
My main interest is 1/35 scale WWII armor, Axis and Allied, and will occasionally branch out into other areas. The builds I have done so far have been pretty much OOB, and considering what most newer kits include, that is usually more than enough for me. Even though my projects do not always end up ...
