introduction
After having a remarkable name on weathering materials and dry transfers,
Wilder Company released a 1/35 scale resin figure kit depicting a Civilian Afghan old man.
box
The figure comes in a cuboid cardboard box . Two sides have figure and company information in English and Russian as the other sides show photos of assembled and painted figure from two different angles.
Figure parts are inserted in a transparent zip-lock bag and represented with small casting blocks.
parts
The figure comes in 4 medium grey resin parts. Sculpting and casting quality are very good. No casting mistakes, air bubbles or excess resin on the sample. There will be no need for a serious cleaning process.
Head : Facial details, hair, moustache and beard are well defined. He wears typical Afghan cap named Pakol which is is a soft, round-topped hat of wool and found in any of a variety of earthy colors: brown, black, gray, or ivory, or dyed red using walnut. Before it is fitted, it resembles a bag with a round, flat bottom. The wearer rolls up the sides nearly to the top, forming a thick band, which then rests on the head like a beret or cap. Head makes a very good fit to the hole on the neck but note that it should be slightly turned to left for a perfect fit.
Body : Figure is posed to sit on the ground in a natural pose. He wears a waist lenght tunic with a short front opening and baggy trousers. Over his tunic, he has a large collar, zipper-front coat with a flap cover pocket on the right breast. Cloth folds are well defined on the figure. As for the footgear, he has sandals with crossed straps.
Left arm is posed to put on the raised knee. It shows nice finger details and cloth folds. It makes a very good fit to the hole on the shoulder like a snap kit.
Left foot is given as a seperate part and should be assembled vertical to the hole on the leg. I think it is assembled a little wrong on the boxart and looks like a casting problem but as assembled in the right position , there is no problem.
conclusion
Useful figure sculpted in nice details and well cast. It can be used in Afghanistan dioramas and can be a part of other scenes with a head replacement.
Thanks to Nico Monnoye of Add-On Publishing / Art of Modelling for the review sample.
