The set consists of 32 light cream colored resin parts crisply molded onto sixteen resin pour stubs. The meat and potatoes of this set are the sandbag armor pieces. The Legend Productions armor is represented by four resin pieces that assemble around the kit turret like a jigsaw puzzle. The largest piece covers the left turret side and area above the mantlet. The second piece covers the right turret side. A fully stowed turret bustle rack is the third piece and it is topped off by a final row of sandbags that covers the rear of the turret top.
There are several other turret detail pieces included. Among them is very nice searchlight with molded on canvas cover. A two piece M2 .50 cal machine gun is added for external mounting on top of the commander’s cupola. The slender barrel is separate from the receiver and looks very fragile. The rest of the turret detail parts consist of spare track links (5), ammo cans, rucksacks, a pair of 5 gallon cans, duffle bags and a couple of tanker rolls.
There are also four wooden 105mm ammo crates that can be used somewhere on the tank or in a diorama setting.
My set did not include any instructions, but the construction is intuitive and would be of no problem to the average modeler. There is a full color photograph of the installed detail set on the box top though.
Overall, the sandbag set is well worth the $12.95 I originally paid for it. The Legend set gives you a different looking M48 for a ‘Nam static display.
