The Kit

Itís always good to review interesting and slightly offbeat releases and this new set from Plus Model is no exception. Containing 41 resin parts and two lengths of wire for the generator, the set contains everything a Wehrmacht soldier could need to recharge his batteries.

Clear resin Distilled water bottle
Components for petrol generator
Jerry cans
Work Bench
2X length of wire

Opening the sturdy cardboard box, the resin parts are stored in a zip lock bag with bubble wrap providing extra protection, a small point, but having had some resin parts get damaged in the post before, itís nice to see that the packaging has been taken into consideration.

The resin casting all looks to be up to the same high standard we have come to expect from Plus model the only downside being one or two of the larger parts look slightly warped. This could obviously be easily rectified by sticking them in a cup of hot water and reshaping, itís just rare to find this on one of their items. The large clear part designed to represent the Bottle of distilled water is beautifully cast, with the protective outer casing being very nicely rendered.

A complex series of parts are supplied to assemble the Petrol Generator, a degree of clean up would be required on some of the framing and again one of the parts was slightly warped but nothing major. The small ancillary items are all very well moulded. The addition of several tool boxes is a nice final touch and the instructions are very clear and well laid out.

All in all, this is a great little set,Plus Model always seem to produce novel but equally useful sets that fill a niche in the model making catalogue.
Highs: A very comprehensive and well thought out set. Some of the casting, such as the distilled water bottle is really first rate. Clear and easy to follow instructions especially for the more complex assemblies such as the generator.
Lows: Some parts in the review sample were slightly warped. flash present on some of the more delicate parts that would need careful removal.
Verdict: Another well thought out and useful accessories set from Plus model. One of those handy items to have hanging around for any WW2 workshop scene.
