Pelican cases, manufactured by Pelican Products, Inc., are molded plastic containers that seal with an airtight and watertight gasket. Used by professionals in the most demanding markets including firefighters, police, defense/military, aerospace, entertainment, industrial and consumer, Pelican cases comply with US Military, NATO, IEC, and ATA standards for waterproofing, stacking, impact, and durability.

ANT Miniatures recently launched a new product line which delivers modern weapon and accessory sets in 1/35 scale, designed in cooperation with SP Models using rapid prototyping technology. The first releases in this line were Pelican cases in several versions, and this particular review covers Pelican 472-PWC Storm Case with M24 sniper rifle and sniper scopes (35-703).

The set is packed in a hard cardboard box, with the pieces secured in a zip-lock bag and additionally protected by a bubble wrap. The CAD box art image displays the contents of the set. The kit includes 6 pieces, each on its own casting block, for assembling 3 cases. The pieces are molded in grey resin and the cast is absolutely perfect with details impressively delivered in scale.

The set depicts 472-PWC M24 rifle case. The case has dimensions of 136.6 x 41.9 x 17 cm and features six press & pull latches, two soft-grip handles, two padlockable hasps, in-line wheels and powerful hinges. ANT Miniatures did their homework really well and the case is accurately scaled with all the details are clearly identifiable on this 1/35 scale kit. Moreover, the opened cases feature customized foam insert which holds a M24 rifle, Harris bipod and two scopes (I believe these are BORS Barrett Optical Ranging System w Leupold Mark4LR/T and AN/PVS-10 Night Vision Sniper Scope), with the convoluted foam on the lid.

With the latches depicted in the open position, these cases should be displayed opened. Closed cases are available as Pelican 472-PWC Storm Case (35-704) at ANT Miniatures webshop:

Pelican 472-PWC Storm Case with M24 sniper rifle and sniper scopes (35-703) is another great 1/35 scale accessory set from ANT Miniatures. Delivered using 3D prototyping technology and perfectly cast in resin, the cases are accurately sized and feature ton of intricate details. Once painted, these Pelican cases could easily turn into a focal point of many dioramas and vignettes.

Highs: Well cast, accurately sized and with nicely rendered details, this set should be a great addition to any modern day diorama.
Lows: None.
Verdict: Highly recommended.

About Mario Matijasic (Maki)

You wonder how did this addiction start? I was a kid when my dad broght home a 1/72 Concord airplane; we built it together as well as couple of other airplanes after that. This phase was just pure fun: glue, paint, decals in no particular order... everything was finished in a day or two. Then I disc...

The foam padding detail looks extraordinary.

That was the first thing many said when these weapon and accessory sets appeared under ANT Miniatures label. The likeness is not accidental as ANT produced these sets in cooperation with Peter Samofalov, the man behind some of Live Resin designs. Mario
