What you get

These are the Axis version of the British Airborne Supply Containers. The full name is German Airborne Supply Containers (CD 6118). These are not the typical diorama supply. You do not see very many dioramas that focus on non-armor subjects. This is your chance to do just that.

Contianers

The box is one of the new smaller size boxes 2.5 x 2.5 x .75. The Box art is nicely done and is the only reference for you. There are no instructions included.
This is normal for CD products and I don't think it hurts this kit. It's very self-explanatory as far as how it goes together. Inside you will find the typical ziplock that bag holds pieces to make two containers. The parts consist of two main body parts and stabalizer fins. The main body is about 50mm long and 10mm in diamerter.

Unlike the British counter-part, the Germans added stabalizer fins to the main body. CD had molded each body with grooves for four fins, for a total of eight. A down side to my kit was that it only had seven fins. I don't know if this is an oversight on my particular kit or not. There is a resin block on all of the parts. CD has nicely positioned the blocks in the mold so that they minimize the potential damage during removal or touchup.

The fins have a funny added molding piece. If you look at the closeup of the fin you'll see along the back spine, there is a extra rod of resin. It's not part of the normal resin block and it does not fit the pre-molded fin groove in the body. As soon as you try to assemble this you'll recognize that, 1. It doesn't belong, or 2. It doesn't fit the groove.
Either way you'll have to accomodate for this. Without actually building it I can only offer that you can sand down the rod or make the grooves larger. I studied the box art and it appears that the rod does not
add any extra elevation to the fin. It's simply an over molded piece. Not a big deal in the overall scheme of things.

Impression

If you do any German Paratroop diorama building I would say these are a must have. The missing part does drop them on overall, but if you do miss the part, a piece of styrene is all it takes to make it right.
The size and shape of a replacement fin is easy to do. Even for someone fairly new to resin AM kits, this shouldn't be much of a problem. Simply use one of the other parts as a template on a piece
of styrene from anything, even the packaging from a frozen dinner.
The detail is very good, the sculpting is wonderfully done and is some of the sharpest I have seen on CD products. The impact and unique flair this will bring a German diorama is very nice.
