Legend Productions has released a full resin turret basket for the Academy IDF Magach 7C. This is a single piece resin moulding supplied as a direct replacement for the kit provided basket.
Contents
The single resin piece is sealed in a zip lock bag and comes in the usual small box that we see from Legend Productions. The boxes are quite flimsy, but everything inside is in one piece. I have had plenty of these small update sets from Legend Productions and have never found any broken pieces when opening the boxes.
Review
As it shows in photo on the box, there is only one piece in this set. It is quite a large chunk of resin, but there are no air bubbles and the casting is flawless. There are two circular depressions just of right centre on the top of the basket; these are for the wind and later masts. On the bottom rear are several points to attach the holders for the tow cables. There is one under the tactical sign holder, which is tricky to see at first.
While this is a direct replacement for the kit supplied parts, it does offer some nice improvement value to the modeller. For a starter there is no assembly required, unlike with the kit parts. It has also got the added benefit of being suitably packed out with equipment suitable for an Israeli Defence Force armoured vehicle. The only difficulty this offers the modeller is the issue of painting the element, but it will bring added life to the model.
Conclusion
This is a really nice addition for the Magach 7C. This set will save a lot of time and will enhance the look of the turret. I plan on a couple more of these, as the IDF used them on the later variants of the Magach 3's. In the near future I will share with you all some images of this product painted and installed on a model.
SUMMARY
Highs: Super crisp castings.Lows: The casting blocks will need care and attention to remove.Verdict: A great addition to the Academy kit, Especially for those who don't want to add all the pieces that go in and around the basket.
Our Thanks to Legend Productions! This item was provided by them for the purpose of having it reviewed on this KitMaker Network site. If you would like your kit, book, or product reviewed, please contact us.
About Paul Sykes (nakpadon) FROM: ENGLAND - NORTH WEST, UNITED KINGDOM
I started modelling at the age of 7when my farther gave me a 1/72nd scale Matchbox Lysander.
I built anything I liked at first. It was not until around 1987 that I caught the bug for IDF armour, and I have it still to this day.
